You get all the bite of a single coil with the fatness and mid-range snarl of a humbucker.
I like that description!! :headbang:
that description makes it sound like a fat, ugly monster:9:

I've never been entirely sure why people are attracted to his music. He can't sing, his songs sound like they were written by an eight year old alcoholic, he isn't a good guitar player and his tone stinks. I think there are much better example of great P-90 tone. Leslie West and Townsend (both already mentioned in the thread) are much better examples.
Hey that's a 8-year old alcoholic statement. Take it easy![]()
Anyway. That's completely subjective.
The fact that he's not so much of a guitarist doesn't make him a bad musician. And I don't like p90s tone at all (i've heard p90s on rock as well as blues and even used on metal). I love his music because it has much feel to it. He's definitely a rocker.
I think people like him more for the party attitude and the fact that he is a good performer. That much I will say good about him.
