What do you guys think about these bodies?

I just pulled the trigger on the body for my project. They 1/16" thick aircraft grade aluminum with a frame built inside. They will be routed for P-90s. Sprucehill guitars makes them. I'm stuck on these two bodies. I really like the double cut body, but I am worried about the neck stability because the pocket is so shallow. Which do you guys like?

I dig them both...don't sweat the neck joint on the double cut, it'll be fine. What are you gonna do with them (neck, bridge, pups) that would make up my mind

tele for sure...i almost bought one from them myself but if the pics they use that show the quality of the polishing they do just looks plain sad and crappy all scratched and swirled...thus why i never bought one...i hope they look better in person.

i like both. but opposite of jolly, i'm partial against the telecaster. I've just never like the tele

The double cut is accually a double cut Tele body, like the TC-90. I am leaning toward the single cut. The neck joint just looks too small and shallow on the double cut. I talked to Marty, the guy who does all the custom jobs there. I guess they did the 100th anniversary Harkey Strat/tele bodies, these are the same. I am going to have them routed for P-90s i thnk. They have divised a nice mouting system for P9-0s. They have a machined block that fits into the cavity, and hangs from the top, the pickups mount on to that. The bloacks then attach to the top of the body with three screws. Two of these mounting blocks are only $25 extra, machined out of solid aluminum. They will do any pickup combos, scale length, and mouting holes free of charge. Each is custom machined. For only $385 it seems like a heck of a deal. I've bee watching these for a while and they are usually $450. I'm leaning toward a Gibby headstock style 3 on a side warmoth neck, 24.75" scale made out of maple and ebony. I will finish it myself.

So these would be hollow body aluminum bodies? I remember from another thread that you mentioned that aluminum tone is really deep and rich? Perhaps you can fill me in on some of that

they both look good, I'm gonna have to throw my vote towards the tele. I dig the dingle cut look on there.

To have a quality aluminum neck made would be quite expensive these days. I would love to do it, and maybe I will in the future, but for now a good quality wooden neck will be fine by me. Aluminum necks also have a tendencey to expand and contract with heat changes. Just the warmth from my hands is enough to pull the neck out of tune. I usually play it and retune for the first five minutes, after that it is fine- a small price to pay. I can't even imagine what stage lighting would do. After almost 30 years, the neck (no truss rod) intonates and works perfectly. You though Fenders were tough...

Aluminum has pretty strong tonal characteristics. In my experience with aluminum necks, it tends to overpower wood tones. I'm not really very good at descriptions, especially when it comes to sound. When playing my Kramer unplugged you can really feel it. Open chords just resonate all the way though the ribcage. It is a strange sensation really. Acoustically, the resonation is not that loud, but you can deffiantely feel strong vibration coming through the neck and the body. There is also a well defined midrage acoustically. It seems to give more articulation to the whole range of sound. I am expecting the aluminum body to be more resonant. It is said that when sound waves travel through aluminum they are relatively unchanged tonally. You get a more "true" sound. I don't quite know what that means, maybe it's just hype. I know that I have not heard anyone say they did not like the sound or feel after playing one. It just has a different feel to it than most tone material.
