you should be banned from this and every other guitar forum for that comment and forced to sell all of your guitar related gear and become a drummer!!

to his off topic post. I would never commit such heresy.

Re: What do you guys think about this strat?

oh i know, hence the silly response. i'm not mean enough to actually wish the curses of being a drummer on a fellow guitarist lol.

Re: What do you guys think about this strat?

What Fender or whomelse said in the ad; .QUOTE-"BUILT AND BACKED BY FENDER! Dressed in an eye-popping 2-Color sunburst finish, this limited edition Fender-designed Stratocaster guitar has the look and feel of guitars costing 10 times as much."-ENDQUOTE .
That isnt quite true. This guitar will never look or feel like a 1500.00 guitar. It looks like a good guitar to me though .
First thing you wanna plan on doing when you get a chance is having a tech set up the guitar , i guess you know that.
After that youre gonna want to drop in a cpl. of Duncans and maybe upgrade the nut and tremolo-that cheap trem is gonna rob your tone bigtime...possibly the tuners.Should be a decent playing and sounding guitar.

If you already own ANY other guitar, why would you want to buy an affinity series Squier?? You may as well go to Wal-Mart and look at their selection.:smack:

Re: What do you guys think about this strat?

It's a $140 chinese or indonesian squire. What do YOU think? I can hardly even think "real musical instrument" when I look at that thing.

I know this has been discussed ad naseum on here and myriad other guitar forums as well, but I will never understand why some people insist on buying a roomful of cheap entry-level imports when, with the same investment, they could have afforded one or two actual pro-level instruments.

Re: What do you guys think about this strat?

why do you guys keep refering to it as a whole different strat? the link is to a vintage modified HSS model.

Re: What do you guys think about this strat?

some of those Deluxe Squiers are nice cheapies.... and i mean for cheapies i like what i see... compared to the plywood junk i used in the 80's when i started out that cost 3 times as much back then they are not bad instruments... my 1987 plywood Kramer Striker cost me around $500 in the summer of 87... i still have the sales slip somewhere... together with a case it set me back around $600 Canadian... and the guitar was junk...

For what they are and what they cost these Squier Deluxes are OK... i like the model that has 3 Duncan Designed hotrails in it...

i own many POS parts axes and i have a few early 2000's era Squier necks on some other bodies and the necks feel great...

i have come close to buying a new Squier a few times... just a junker to mess around with... but in the end i keep grabbing MIM strats and teles...

Re: What do you guys think about this strat?

Really hit or miss.

I had a Squire bullet strat (only a bridge humbucker, one volume knob, thats it) with an invader in it and it abso-****ing-lutely slayed as far as tone goes. Really, it sounded as good to my ears as my PRS Cu22 before I put a C5 in it. Not better, just different, but as good. And this is no slight on PRS. The thing just killed for high gain stuff. There was something just magical about that squire.

However, it played like it had rusty nails for frets (read as: the worst neck ever) and the hardware was a joke. Some notes just fretted out no matter how high the action was set. I would have had to put a new bridge, tuners, nut and (realistically) a new neck on it too. I would have spent more on the neck alone than I bought the guitar for and that was kinda hard to swallow and especially because who knows how it would have sounded with better parts. I know that sounds ridiculous, but who knows? Maybe that guitar's magic was how all those parts sounded together.

In short, yes you can luck out and have a great sounding one, but they are few and far between. However, you'll never have a great feeling guitar, IMO. It'll always feel like a cheap piece of crap, much like mine did. I like my guitars to be easy on the ears, eyes and hands.
