What do you guys think of Chapman Guitars?

I was just wondering about your view on Chapman guitars, imo they are incredible value. If you've never heard of them they are Rob Chapman's brand, and each aspect is chosen by public vote.
Check each one out here, I quite fancy the CAP10.

Yeah I have seen him on You Tube several times. Seems like it's only available in GB. The dude Rob is weird.

The prices are very attractive. Are they made in England or the damn Chinese made them?

You think he's weird? He's a standard British chap :cool2:
They also ship them worldwide, and they are made in Korea but by proper luthiers, not the cheap labourers.

I've been subscribed to Chappers for quite a few years already now and I love the guy and his guitars look like awesome deals to me, but I never had the chance to try them. I love the voting process and I'm involved in the ML-7 and I might be getting this one when it comes around if I like the specs!

I see where you're coming from but they certainly aren't.
He gets the public to vote on different aspects, guess they wen't for an 'Agile' like look.

LOL!! When I first stumbled accross vids by him, I thought he was a class a goofball. Then I learned that he was being amusing. Now I love the guy! Heckuva player and his vids are amusing/entertaining.. Never played one of his brand axes, but Im betting they are good value for the money as that is what he was shooting for..

Right. I've heard good things about the Agiles though. I've been looking to pickup a new seven string.

The Chapman aren't bad looking guitars. If their appearance is any indication of their quality, then I'd be willing to shell out a few for that trans-black thing.

Really? I've just been on a 4 hour Chappers marathon, love his videos.. also.. would you happen to be from a small island called Jersey? Or the american one?

I think you could do a lot better for £400 on the used market than these Korean made guitars - I've snagged ibanez prestige guitars for as low as £360 and Pre-prestige rg550 and rg570s for less than £400 too.

On the new market these guitars give the best value for money - they beat out anything Ibanez, Fender, Charvel, Schecter, Jackson and most certainly ESP/LTD, offer, but when you can get a Japanese made Ibby for that money, then you've got to question buying new guitars!

I see nothing earth-shatteringly special about the guitars under discussion. They strike me as trying a little too hard to be different. These are the sort of guitar that you need to know that you will keep because their resale value will be way down.

I agree that buying a pre-owned 'nez would make greater economic sense than the Chapman lines. If you feel some patriotic desire to buy British, check out brands such as Fret King and Gordon-Smith.

The original production runs both the ML1 and ML2 were made in china. They just recently switched the production factory to Korea and finish options.

Imo, they look nothing like nor look like they have anything in common with the Agile brand.

The business model of the chapman guitars were that beyond the vote to spec thing, was that they are built so that the main non-upgradable aspects of the guitars, woods etc. are of a higher grade than the upgradable parts such as the pickups, electronics etc. Making the guitars a nice canvas for customization.

Chapman uses the Korean PRS factory.

If any of you have experience with the SE model PRS guitars, then I suppose you have a ball park idea of what you are getting... IF you get one.

He's a great guitar player, but he and that other dork get on my nerves "trying" to be funny. I can't even watch any of their videos.

They come out of the same factory as the PRS SE line, which is IME fantastic. I love my PRS SE and I can see myself purchasing a Chapman based on that in the future.
