What do you guys think of Chapman Guitars?

Re: What do you guys think of Chapman Guitars?

Not a fan of them. Variety is limited and appointments are minimal. They are built for one type guitarist in my opinion, but I leave it at that.

Oh, I remember you. You're the guy that was hating on Chapman in another thread because his guitars aren't another company's guitars.

Captain and Chappers are, respectively, the inheritor of a family music store business and a musician/teacher. Guitar building is a joint venture. Between them, they manage to combine the capital resources, retail clout and the social media fan base to gain publicity and acceptance for the instruments.

Initially, at least, the design and appointments were entirely in the hands of the general public. Pretty much a case of, you tell us what you want, we will build it for you. Only later were "exotic" timbers and signature variants introduced.

Clearly, there exists a market for affordable electric guitars that blend popular Fender/Gibson/Ibanez/PRS features without making it painfully obvious that they are that given brand's budget/beginner models. This unlikely pair is attempting to plug that gap.

If you look at the factory video for Chapman, the factory makes LTD, Schecter, PRS, B.C. Rich, and so on. Pretty much every major outsourced, Korean-made guitar is built there.

Korean Made; currently two at my local MGR@ $499.99 each - ML1 Hot Rod 2 Piece Ash Superstrat w/Bolt Neck Ebony Fretboard, SD JB TB4 and Floyd 1000. Felt good, played very nicely but I didn't dig the neck shape. $499.99 Used Price. They also had a 7 String Set Neck Tele as well with similar specs Ash Body, Ebony Board, etc. but fixed string thru bridge. IMHO; both decent playing pretty cool looking guitar if you're not a Headstock Snob.

Hey, I watch some of the reviews by Chapers and the Captain. They may ramble a bit at times but many times they think about or point out critical aspects of a product that other reviews on the net dont even bother with. If the free market wants something and they provide it I say good on them for doing it. Meanwhile if anyone disagrees with their methods or style feel free to hit "next" and move on to another reviewer of the same product. I think there are several good reviewers out there.......I also watch people like "in the blues", "Tone King" and others before I try stuff out. Its easy and painless to let someone else buy it first and try it first before I spend the time and cash wod on something myself
