What do you guys think of the Bad Horsie Wah?

...not the Bad Horsie 2 model, but the earlier one.

What does it sound like compared to the original Jim Dunlop Crybaby?

Bad Horsie is a better value over the BD2. Same basic sound minus the variable option that you won't use. Found cheap on eBay.

Doesn't sound much like an original Crybaby. The BH is cleaner, more modern with a longer sweep.

Less 'vintage' than the Crybaby, but less noisy, more transparent and easier to use (it's switchless - just step on it and go). As it has optical control, you need to check the position of the LED to get the best out of it. I found that bending it slightly gave a longer sweep. (It's hard to explain, but easy to fathom out once you take the bottom off). I like it better than a Crybaby.

Re: What do you guys think of the Bad Horsie Wah?

I just sold a BH and have a Crybaby for sale. I owned, used, and liked them both for years. the BH is ultra quiet, and the switchless design is awesome. The sound of the BH is clearer and less throaty than the Crybaby. My big complaint about Morley pedals in general is their size. The BH is a HUGE pedal and takes up to much space on my board. I'd still recommend it, though.

I sold both my wahs and bought a Fulltone. It is superior to both, but it costs as much as both put together. :D

The Bad Horsie is a great pedal. Back when I hated stepping on wah switches (and I still kinda do) the switchless design was a God-send. The only drawback is that, since you can't "set and forget" due to the switchless design, you don't get those "sweet spot" half-c*cked wah sounds unless you're prepared to stand on the pedal for the entire song. Could you imagine playing "Ziggy Stardust" with the Bad Horsie? Ugh!

There is also the problem of having it turn itself off in the heel position if you wait for a second there before pushing forward again. You get used to it, but it bugged me at first...

It's very tight under high gain, and not as piercing as a crybaby.

I use a Dunlop Vox Wah and it makes soo much noise when my amp is turned up. I played a Bad Horsie a few times and rather liked it. The Bad Horsie is non latching (switching). You just lay on your foot and it's ready to go. It seemed to have a smoother sound as you swept back and forth. I'd like to get one, prefferably the first edition.

I got the 2nd one and i use both modes these days. If you like the tone and done mind not being able to set and forget, its a brilliant pedal.

There is an internal potentiometer for adjusting the delay time before the pedal turns off.
