How do speakers get broken in for someone's style?

You seem like a nice kid but and know a few things but are very miss-informed.

That's OK.......it took me close to 40 years to know the stuff I do and I know a lot. Yet........I know so little.

But I will try to only say things I know to be fact as fact and state things that are my opinion as such.

get an EQ pedal, put it infront of your amp, boost the bass & low mids on the pedal & the bass on your amp, play it for about 6 hours, then turn it off

your amp will sound a lot bassier than it did before, i guarantee

Did you read this somewhere or is it your own experiences through years and years of breaking in 100's speakers?

Are these new speakers or old speakers? How many hours does it take to break in a speaker? How does the speaker change as it breaks in? Does it actually have a memory and break in differently depending on what was pumped through it or is it a matter of time and would sound the same eventually no matter what. Do all speakers that are the same model sound the same.

I suggest you email Ted Weber with that explanation and ask him if it's true.

He is the Internet guru on speakers and forgot more than I know about them.

If he agrees with you I will have learned something new and add that to my knowledge with a big thank you for educated me.

I'm not trying to be a wise guy, I'm making a point that I hope you will understand.

OK, IMO, for the $$$, the LTD is one of the better gigging amps for a roots/ blues type player, if the power rating is suitable for your venue, in other words, if you can crank it enough to make it sing

also, any tube amp should be tweaked for the player - that means adjusting the bias for your style, and maybe exchanging a couple of preamp tubes to taste

there are differences between the LTD and original tweed Bassman amps -- it's almost not fair to compare. Because of electronic safety regulations these days, these amps aren't as "fragile" electronically, and some values are a little different. My old amp tech said, "they're good amps, but it's an unfortunate name."

my own expirience. I haven't broken in hundreds of speakers, but enough to know

and i'll leave it at that, i know. If you wanna e-mail ted go ahead, but since i've actually seen/heard it happen, i don't need any validation on this point

I recall, Ted Weber stess'es the importance of breaking in speakers , and suggests various ideas. That doesn't sound like an idea that he'd disaprove of to me.

Most of the re-issue bassmans one will encounter are the standard ones with solid state rectifiers, tight power supply specs, and the modern dinky PCB componants. Cream 123 was right on the mark concerning these, IMO. At reasonable volume levels, these sound hard, stiff, and usually too clean. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Limited version sounds more like the originals, and uses tube rectification. I played one of the new limited versions, and recall that I liked it almost as much as my Marshall.

I recall using a provided boutique Vicky version once at a club gig, and the venue still woudn't let it be turned up enough to get OD, even with humbuckers. Clean, Clean, Clean, all night long.
