Re: What do you know about this guitar?
I apologize for bringing an old thread back to life, but since this thread is the first Google result about these guitars, I figured I'd add some information.
I bought one of these guitars new and still own it. It's the fourth Washburn/Dean limited run guitar I bought from Funky Munky Music. The other three are some of the best playing guitars I've ever laid my hands on.
The Polka-Dot ML was about half the price of the others, and it shows. The strap mounting location is originally above the neck, which made the guitar horribly unbalanced. The other Washburns and the many Dean Dime guitars I own have the strap mounting location behind the neck. I moved the strap mounting location on this guitar, but it is still the only neck-heavy ML style guitar I have.
The neck is also huge. It's thicker than the necks on most Les Pauls.
The routing for the Floyd Rose bridge was not very good. When I first got it, I spent a good while with a file getting rid of wood that was getting in the way of the bridge movement. On the plus side, the cheap licensed bridge stays in tune, even with a good bit of abuse.
The pickups that came with it were not good. I had a Bill Lawrence USA pickup installed, which improved things significantly.
This guitar's fatal flaw, to me, is the neck. It makes the guitar neck heavy and it's a bit uncomfortable to play.
This guitar says Made In China on the headstock. If I remember correctly, the nicer ones I have were made in Korea, so that probably explains the differences in the guitars.
