What do you think is the ugliest guitar ever made?

Re: What do you think is the ugliest guitar ever made?

The reverse V is probably #1 on the list

This one just looks stupid...

Anything with a quilt finish and gold hardware.

I never would have thought it at first but I am starting to think Gibson just might take top honors in this thread. For your consideration the Gibson Corvus.

Qwerty posted the Ibanez falchion. That's awesome. I love mine! :-)

I like original ideas, but this stuff right here just looks bad to me:

That was bound to happen we all have different tastes. I am just waiting for my Deacon, Parker or Iceman to show up. That green and red strat is all kinds of fail.

Re: What do you think is the ugliest guitar ever made?

There are far too many that are far too ugly for me to choose just one. B.C. Riches, Ibanez RZs, Dean signature models, and a lot of other stereotypical "shredder" or "metal" guitars are definitely up there, though. I do think there is a reason that the basic electrics have stuck though: Strat, Tele, Les Paul, 335, SG. They're just plain solid designs, from an objective aesthetic point of view. In the artistic sense, they're very timeless, well designed, almost perfect shapes to me. IMO, anyone who states otherwise is just playing too cool for school. I can see them not being ones favorite designs, but to actually think that they are anywhere near "ugly" is ****ing ridiculous to me.

The Ovation Breadwinner... ugly guitar, stupid name:

I am not a fan of the second gen Breadwinners or Deacons either. I do own a first gen Deacon and think they are slick looking axes, literally.

I will say Ovation has a track record for making some pretty ugly solidbodies.

I'll second that! The Mustang and Jaguar are fugly. IMO

Although, there are a lot of fugly guitars in this thread, to be sure.

While trying to find a picture of a green Le Boz 12 string that one of my bandmates has, I found this: the Telestar Green Goblin.... yeeeeesh...

I love the looks of a reverse Gibson Firebird, but I think a non reverse Firebird is absolutely hideous.

For me the ovations have a little charm - just not enough for me to get one.

Another ugly duckling I do want if the opportunity comes is a Martin EM-18:

There's a little sentiment for that one...

Apart from the SG and the Flying V .... if it's pointy, it's ugly. Even most of the sounds that come out of them are ugly. But then again, they seem to be used more like weapons than musical instruments.
