would you buy this US made SG Voodoo for $200 with this neck glue job?

For $200 I don't see why not, the joint could be fixed by a pro down the line if you wanted and you'd still be ahead

supposedly it was done by a pro

a guitar center pro

Hmmm I've seen better neck repairs than that..... I'm with JMH. I don't see why not, for $200?!?! Go for it and get a real pro to repair it if you want.

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

Thats pretty far from a pro repair but for 2 bills I don't think you can loose.

If it's a solid repair in terms of being stable then just have the finish fixed at a later date and roll with it...

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

Worst case scenario, the pickups and hardware are worth the $200. You could afford to discard the rest.

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

I'd take it in a heart beat. I am not careful with (my,k careful with other's) guitars, because they are supposed to be played IMHO. If the neck repair is sloppy, I wouldn't care because I could fix it myself, have someone else fix it, play it as is, or sell it for parts. There is an awesome feeling to playing crap guitars and making them sound great.

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

"US Made" doesn't mean much if you end up discarding the body.

But answer this question for yourself: Do you like the pickups that are in it? If you would likely end up replacing them then I would question whether you'd be able to strip $200 worth of hardware off of it. If they are awesome, then go for it.

The tuners look nice.

You could strip $200 worth of hardware off of that thing if it breaks. Buy it.

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

I've seen much much better repairs... for not that much money. Buy it and have it fixed.

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

If the guitar is a great player and sounds good I would nab it. If it doesnt play great I wouldnt bother especially if your planning on having it fixed again. The guitar is only worth about 600 bucks in great condition so if you buy it for 200 then sink another couple hundred having it repaired you might as well just look for one that isnt busted up.

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

I can't really see anything in that photo...but I would probably buy it without a second thought.

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

It depends, can't tell much from the pic. If the repair is structurally sound as opposed to just being butt ugly, go for it.

Re: what do you think of this neck repair job?

Too bad about the questionable-quality repair job. Those SG Voodoo's are awesome guitars. They have a really nice bright and tight tone thanks to the Ash body and the dual slug coil p'ups.

The guitarist from Paul Di'Anno played one of those and the tone was almost dead on like a Stratocaster w/'buckers. Not the tone I was expecting from an SG.
