What does $25 buy?

Imperator of Indignation
It bought a barely used Ktone hollowbody. I have already replaced the neck pickup with a Lundgren Designed A2 pickup from a Hagstrom Fantomen and a Duncan Custom with RCUO A5 in the bridge. I already had the pickups so no expense there. I bought black rings and a wrap around bridge for it. The tuners have a poor ratio and it binds badly at the nut. But the fret ends aren't sharp and the action is low. It jangles nicely and I really like the neck position which is rare for me.

Something looks really off with the tailpiece in this picture, is it attached off-center? I've seen that on a couple of cheap guitars...

Not bad for $25. Or even more. I assume you'd have to use those little Alpha pots for that bridge tone control.

I love it. If I found it, I would put GFS gold foils in it and use it for my retro/lofi tones.

I replaced the cream pickup rings with black. I also replaced the wire tailpiece with a cast lyre style. I also replaced the black knobs with dark amber. The Custom bridge has a RCUO A5 and the neck has an A3. I will try an A8 for the bridge and A4 for the neck.

Looking way nicer!

But for $25 you can get eight strap locks (coming from two 4-packs of swing top Grolsch beers) :)

I replaced the bridge with a roller bridge. The string angle improved, as did action, and tone. It has locking studs so there's no more rattle and palm muting is better due to increased saddle depth. I also added a tort pickguard. I might upgrade the nut and tuners. Has anyone used one of these string trees?

For a long time I've wanted Les Paul Florentine. The Gibsons are outraguously priced but you can still get an Epiphone for a reasonable price.
