What Effect Do You Leave On All The Time?

Re: What Effect Do You Leave On All The Time?

This thread inspired me to dig out my compressor from the back of the closet, hook 'er up, dial it in pretty low and leave it on for the evening. I get why some people would keep this effect on all the time. I think it's going back on my board.

I don't leave it on, but the first effect in my 'clean' loop is a MIJ Boss CS-3.

It just makes arpeggios and phrases so smooth and tasty -a good one still allows for dynamics too.

The Suck Pedal seems to be stuck in the on position for me.

Re: What Effect Do You Leave On All The Time?

I have to have reverb, either from an amp or a multi-effects. But I won't buy a conventional amp without it.

I don't even think of reverb as an effect because I have never owned an amp without it, the same way I don't think of volume or treble as effects! So I guess that is my absolutely 100% always on effect.

ISP Decimator too.

Also, I don't really turn my Boss SD-1 off either.

Re: What Effect Do You Leave On All The Time?

I got a EH oceans 11 a few months back and the pedal does a lot of cool sounds but the dripy fender reverb setting is pretty dang close.

When I was still playing in a band, and not just my apartment, it was a Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive Mod, set as a clean boost.

Re: What Effect Do You Leave On All The Time?

Reverb is my effect. I love it. You can do so much with it, it's really the only effect I need. I love how you can use it to shape the mood and atmosphere of a guitar tone (and as a result , the song) , and get dramatic results with such a "subtle" effect. As opposed to something like a chorus or wah which is a very obvious, in your face type of effect. I used to have a huge pedal board. But learned a couple years ago the power of tone shaping through reverbs and have barely used any other effects since.

Always on things: noise gate/suppressor, reverb.

Tend towards gobs of gain, whether from amp or OD/boost/fuzz/rangemaster/compressor or all of the above... But no fixed approach, varies with the sound I'm chasing at the moment.

Lately, I am having trouble turning off the Digitech Freqout. Ridiculously fun for low volume feedback/sustain, though it gets more believable with higher volume, where it blends into real feedback. Set right, I only want it off for clean. Very fun for psychedelic fuzz freakouts and Barracuda-style alien harmonic feedback. Would not have gotten it but for absurd sale, as at list it's too close to the price of a Sustainiac Stealth Pro. So very glad I did, though!

I can imagine the monstrosity of the tone sucking you get with BBE Sonic on the whole time...lol. My 482i has been soleley a decoration on my rack for almost 5 years now, filling up an empty space.

For me, it's gotta be chorus, distortion, and either delay or reverb.

Yeah, I have the same experience -it's a tone sucker in my experience, you hear some initial exciting harmonic content that distracts you initially form all that you've lost in the mids and lows.

IME Sonic Maximizers are easy to sell to everyone that hasn't figured out how awful they sound.
