What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

i have the Metal Muff and Big Muff Pi. i love both of them and find that the operation is nice and quiet, but i hear a lot of comments about how their pedals are generally noisy.

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

A Deluxe Electric Mistess. I use it for pseudo univibe sounds and not so much for the flange. I used to use a USA Big Muff, but a Fuzz Face replaced it. I don't have one, but I've always liked the Russian one.

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

I have a vintage Small Stone and a Deluxe Memory Man on my board. I also have the Holier Grail reverb that I use with my practice rig. Regarding the flerb setting .... it can be an interesting sound in just the right song. The ethereal Bb note works best in a song in Gm.

I have a metal muff and I just ordered the Stereo Electric Mistress.

and the only boss on my board is a tuner.

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

These are the EHx pedals I have:

Big Muff Pi (USA)
It's a great fuzzer, but the bass response is a little floppy. I like it for single note lines, but like most fuzzes, chords don't sound great with it, but it's better at chords than the Boss fuzz I have.

Small Clone
Since it only has one knob, it is really easy to use. The chorus sound is very natural, but I still like to make my choruses more subtle. On this thing there is only a 2-way switch for depth, rather than a knob.

Metal Muff (6 knob, 2 switch)
In the category of metal distortions, this is one of the heaviest. The control over tone is awesome, especially with the Top Boost engaged.

I have holy grail, metal muff, memory man, and small clone. I like em all, metal muff is to be tamed a little though.

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

I have a Big Muff which the other guitarist in my band is currently using.

It's a fantastic pedal with a pretty peculiar voicing - meant for long slow solos (think about David Gilmour or Ernie Isley on who's that lady) and edgy sounding rhythm like Neil Young on Live Rust and the Smashing Pumpkins. It also very responsive to guitar changes.

I also tried to like the Small Stone phaser but couldn't really. It's very generic, their other pedals are very impressive though.

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

I have a holy grail myself. I'm interested in getting a fuzz here lately. I just don't know which one to get. I want tones that range between a rangemaster (I know it's a treble boost) and the sounds that Josh Homme gets with whatever fuzz he is using.

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

I use the deluxe memory man and the holy grail. Love them both!

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

I used to use Big Muffs years ago. Back when they were just old pedals. Used it for that huge enveloping fuzz, but not much else. I got done with my Big Muff kick right about the time they started getting expensive. Go figure.

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

Q-Tron, Q-Tron+, Micro Q-Trom and Nano Q users, please tell me about them... Features, why you like them better than other envelope filters, etc...

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

Anyone played the LBP-1? http://www.ehx.com/2008/

I just bought one, and I like it. Even though it's just one knob, I'm still working on different ways to use it. But, I can't in all honesty give anyone a review on this or any pedal. I've been using OD/Distortion boxes for years, and still haven't learned the correct (best?) way to boost an already dirty amp or to use one pedal to boost another. I'm an idiot when it comes to getting the most out of my gear and making it sound good!

I can say that years ago I tried the Russian Big Muff. I liked the fuzz effect when the pedal was on, but when turned off it completely sucked all of the tone out of the sound. I'd never try another unless it was true-bypass.

Re: What Electro Harmonix Pedals Do You Use

depending on the mood, i'd choose one of my Metal Muffs to play...
