What guitar are you playing today?

Today I have some spare time, so I'll be playing my 1992 ESP S Custom loaded with two ESP SH100 Power rails and a Duncan Screamin' Demon "TB12L" on the bridge that sounds perfect in this guitar (the Screamin' Demon seems to sound good in certain guitars only). I love this guitar, especially the neck and it's definitely my current #1. Weights a hefty 10.2lbs, but it sounds as good as it's heavy

Wow , 10.2lbs!
I was surprised too when I first got it years ago. The body is made in a very peculiar way, with a one piece of 1" Mahogany back and a 3/4" thick bookmatched flamed Maple top. So that can explain the extra weight. On the contrary, the neck has a thinner rosewood fretboard like a mid 60's Strat, even though the profile is "U" shaped. 20230528_222909.webp

great looking guitar!
Thanks! Always wanted something like what George Lynch used in his REH video. This one is not exactly like it, but same model in general, just different wood spec. It kinda looks as if Lynch's ESP REH guitar and a Lukather's Valley Arts Custom Pro had a baby, so I really can't complain!

Wow, so it must be that maple. I wouldn't think you'd use it for like, 4 hour shows...

Oh no way! My lower back nerves get pinched and I stop feeling my left leg after about 45 minutes with that anchor hanging on my torso. Sound good though, so I do gig with it.

I have a heavier guitar that I use when the band does a festival set (usually an hour or so), as it is heavy enough that if I used it for 4 hours, I'd need 2 'recovery days' afterwards.

Beautiful players! Those ec 1000 axes are highly underrated if you ask me.
Agreed! An actually playable single-cut -- moderate weight, with comfort cuts and a slim neck with a smaller heel joint -- is something I always appreciate. I don't know why some guitar manufacturers assume that wanting to play a Les Paul shape guitar automatically means you want a guitar that weighs as much as an anvil and a heel joint the size of Texas.

Today is more of an acoustic day- original acoustic duo tonight at our local performing arts center. But it is outside. And I've been in Florida too long to play outside when it is under 50 degrees.
