What guitar are you playing today?

Which one did you pick up today?

The Ol workhorse Gibby V here in the corner.

This one gets the most use of all my guitars, by far.

I haven't played yet today but I am jumping in the shower now and heading to the studio. I will probably be grabbing the HH Fralin Strat with the reverse headstock

I've been playing my Schecter C7 for the past couple weeks:

Maybe that image will actually show up...

Probably my most difficult guitar to play well for riffs. But ever since I got those Warpigs in there, did a little setup tweak, and started using these new picks, the minor tone and feel issues that annoyed me have been mitigated, and I can't put it down.

I played (for the last time), a guitar I just sold on Reverb. It is a 2006 USA Ernie Ball SUB1, which was a fine guitar, but a little on the heavy side, so I didn't play it so much. Also, I had brought it to someone to install glow in the dark side dots, and when the guitar was returned, they had sanded off all the paint on the neck, and the side dots were ever so slightly off center.
So I was just mad about that. Sold the guitar, bought my purple Sterling.

Did you still pay them despite what they did?

Nope. They also didn't tell me they didn't have a drill press, or didn't know how to use one. I don't have one, or I'd do it myself. But it was crappy work that should have never left the shop.

And Jerry Cantrell on rhythm... hell yeah man

kenny hohman is the other player in that pic, which is from a gig 6/11. a friend and a WAY better guitarist than me. fantastic singer too. i was playing a festival a few years back and his band super 400 was playing. i was on the inside of the rail infront of the stage watching their set. this guy saddles up next to me and is like "damn, that dude is fuckin killing it!. what a fuckin rockstar!" it was luther dickenson from the north mississippi allstars and black crowes. kenny kicks ass

I put mine in with a hand drill

Finger powered to slow the process and correct for mistakes

Used a drill bit as close to the size of the new dots

Slowly started over existing dots just removed the dot itself

They are only about 1/4 inch deep

Then dipped the new stock in the titebond

Secured in place with blue tape over night

Next more clipped close with flush cutter
And shaved smooth with a razor blade

So after saying I'd probably pick up the LP, I went contrarian on myself and wound up playing my Schecter. I've been doing a lot of riff and solo practice in E standard, trying to get my (weak) chops up, but tonight I felt like picking up the Eb guitar and running through some Megadeth, Testament, and Slayer/KK songs to ensure my fingers don't forget what to do. It felt good.

I shoulda had you do it.

I will be playing my new Warmoth today, which is getting new pots. The ones I used for the build were supposedly low-friction Bournes, but they act more like on/off switches than gradual tapers. I had some DiMarzio pots (which I love) so those are going in there. The setup hasn't 'settled' yet, so I am making some minor adjustments. I will take proper pics once it is all finished. It really is remarkable.
