Why is the springs suddenly a right or wrong thing?

Speaking of springs, this is my new (to me) Music Man. Vega-Trems are set up with 2 springs, always. They ship with several pairs of strings, all which have different tensions. But always only 2 springs.

Going from the zinc block on my MIM Strat to the vegatrem didn't seem to lose me any sustain, but zinc isn't really a high bar for comparison

I did feel big difference between Fender/Squier small block trem and full vintage steel block, both in terms of sustain and overtone

It isn't any different than the bigger block of the Music Man trem I took out. It just works a lot better.

Heading out to the first rehearsal in 6 weeks. I haven't touched the Keith Morrow since then. It will be nice to put it through its paces incase I need to break it out Saturday in the studio. I think I have most of my 7-string stuff done.

Dodged a bullet the neck was way out. A 10 minute fix at home but I would have freaked out in the studio. Winters in New England is brutal on guitars.

The '61 gets almost all the playing time since it landed. Easily one of the best guitars I have owned, hate putting it down. I haven't picked up a Les Paul since I got it, going to have to force myself lol

I have 2, the GS1 hanging up and a SG shape with 2 pick ups. Seriously good and mostly under the radar guitars, they play and sound great. Not fancy but very well put together and easily hang with any of the guitars I own. Of late they are the 2 I’ve been playing the most because they are so good.

I have also recently had a chance to play a Griffin Flip and a Gatsby, both fantastic, very well made and nice feeling. Maybe I preferred the Gatsby's tone slightly because of the P90s (the Griffin has normal mini hums, not actual Firebird style), but can't go wrong with either.

Yeah I like Gatsby’s too. GS are just great quality, functional guitars although they do have some quite fancy looking LP types. I’m currently watching a GS2, if it doesn’t go too high I might make a bid. I missed a newish (2021/2022) GS1 that had a Korina body and an Ebony board, would have loved it but I missed the end of the listing

I have two on my black Strat, and it works perfectly for me.
