What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Maybe shoot for a used MIM strat or tele with a humbucker route? The Demon works great for me in strats.
That's what I'm looking for instead of the Squier. Maybe a Fender Blacktop Telecaster and replace the neck humbucker with the STK-S7.

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Question: I found some nice Fender strats that have maple fingerboard in classified. Is the Demon too bright with maple fingerboard? Is rosewood a lot better?

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Should work fine. George Lynch used the Demon with a maple board. I use it in an ebony board super strat myself.
If it is too bright for you, you can always go with a 250K volume pot.

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

the vintage guitar in my avatar is probably old asian mahogany; superstrat style bolt on with maple neck and sounds great with its screaming demon. no tone knob

now i think its alder. haha

Mine has a maple fingerboard. Sounds fine. Not too bright at all.

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Don't have a maple fingerboard guitar yet, good to know!

So now it looks like this (in no order)
1- LTD ST-213
2- Fender Standard Strat (MIM but also looking for MIA and sell my Vandenberg to finance) with maple fingerboard
3- Fender Tele Blacktop

Thanks a lot for your answers, what a nice forum :)

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

BTW, I'm not sure of that will be routed for a humbucker in the bridge.
It is not routed for a humbucker in the bridge. But it doesn't seem too hard to do it. Finding a HSS pickguard will be way harder ;)

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

This weekend I tried 8-9 Squier and MIM Fender Strats with maple and rosewood fingerboard. Night and day between both in term of playability and sustain (acoustically). Problem is that I have $1000+ guitars and they are also night and day between them and MIM Fender. Tougher project than anticipated...

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

^^
On second thought, that guitar has Duncan's stock and the neck looks to be a QP.

Re: What guitar for a Screamin Demon?

Just want to do a follow up. After trying tons of Squier/Fender guitars I finally found an 2005 Fender Strat MIM. Playing is good, sustain not so bad. I put 5 springs to lock the tremolo flat to the body.

Now I have to find a white HSS pickguard. Any place where I can get one that will fit with the trembucker-size Demon? I know that I can check eBay but I saw many comments about some not fitting perfectly.

Also, I ordered the Demon and the STK-S7 in black. Is it possible to install white covers? Where can I find them?

Last question: I don't know anything about vintage type termolos, should I upgrade it or not? Will keep it "fix" to the body.
Thanks

Tb/S/S pickguard from Warmoth is $25, GFS has some that are $13 but I'm not sure if the route is for an HB or TB
