What guitar tone blew you away?

I only recently learned it was overdubbed vocals. When I bought the record that was the only way I could hear those old Sabbath songs. I'm one of the rare players that prefers Randy's tone on Tribute over Blizzard, Diary and the QR stuff. So much bigger live!

100% agree. Randy’s Tribute tone is amazing.
I feel like his studio tone was way too overproduced and it suffers because of it.

+1 on Adrian Belew, but going back to '79 with Zappa.

It is hard to pick a single Belew tone...he has thousands, an all are uniquely his. Listening to him, it is really hard to hear any 'standard guitar influences' at all in what he does.

Always loved Steve Morse's tone on this tune (and his crazy picking during the solo):

Always thought Morse was a great player but never loved his tone until Purple. That was a combo I would have never thought would have worked but did very well IMO.

Mick Mars tone on this clip really floored me. Not the typical tone I had heard from him and absolutely rips on this clip just raw and primal!

Another one that blew me away was Lenny by SRV. Used this clip to demo very high end vintage audio stuff we had at the Pawn Shop. This particular recording in vinyl on a truly great vintage system (and I have several) is just stunning!!
