Re: What Guitars and Amps will you use in your Senior years?
That's the kind of attitude I have right now. I love the simplicity of the LP Special DC. That guitar has a magic that I can forsee staying in my staple till I get much older. The same thing with the Grosh. It has the classic looks, great feel, incredible vintage strat tones and some humbucker versatility for distortion. I've been spoiled and I love boutique or highend stuff too much now. I also see myself with atleast one good acoustic when I get older. I love my Ovation to death and it sounds amazing plugged in. It's what I think I will be writing all of my material on from now on.
The only thing I might add in the future is a good hollowbody guitar - something like a Guild Starfire IV.
As far as amps, I like getting good tone at lower volumes. The Fargen does take a little volume to get "in the zone", but at 15-30w, I won't have tinitus or the cops over quite so soon
I may end up buying a Suhr amp down the road and if John Suhr ever releases an amp that delivers Marshall and bf Fender in a size that will cut for medium gigs and still sound great in the bedroom, I'll be there  As others have mentioned, who knows about the technology in the future? Getting cranked tone is getting more and more reasonable everyday and some amp companies are really leading the pack when it comes to getting cranked tone at whisper volumes (London Power being one)
