I noticed you mentioned Zeppelin....well its funny cause Page did play alot of Gibsons, but at the same time, recorded with a Tele often too. But he is known for his Gibsons.

I know he recorded with a Tele a lot. Led Zeppelin I was all Tele, as was the solo on Stairway. But a lot of the songs, such as Whole Lotta Love, or Heartbreaker, or Immigrant Song, Black Dog, etc. were recorded with his Les Paul (I think the solo on Black Dog might've been a Tele though...).

The point I was trying to make was that you can't blame a certain brand of instruments for a bad sounding band, because you can just as easily pull up a huge list of good sounding bands that played the same thing. It all boils down to the player.

Partially true. The engineer and producer have more control over the "suck" functions on the sound board and making a band sound good or bad than anything else. A good engineer can make a fart sound like solid gold.

It seems SG's are the "in" guitar these days. It's even the guitar the "Guitar Hero" videogame is modeled around. I think it has more to do with fashion and trends rather than any real musical or practical issues though.

I noticed many emo bands use SG's in their videos, which is why I call SG's "Emo Axes." But we need more Strats out there.
