Re: What is a "Super-Switch"?
Let me preface this by saying that if you don't understand any of this post, you probably don't need a Superswitch.
The Superswitch is like having four 5-position switches in the same mechanism. It has 24 lugs in total. Imagine each of the numbers below is a lug on the switch:
A0 B0
A1 B1
A2 B2
A3 B3
A4 B4
A5 B5
C1 D1
C2 D2
C3 D3
C4 D4
C5 D5
C0 D0
When the switch is in the first position (neck), A0 connects to A1, B0 connects to B1, C0 connects to C1, and D0 connects to D1. Switch to the second position, and you now have A0 to A2, B0 to B2 ... etc.
Like I said: four five-way switches in one.
This enables you to do some
really, really complex pickup switching. Here's an example of what I have wired up in my two humbucker Warmoth LP:
1: Neck humbucker in series
2: Neck screw coil and bridge slug coil in series
3: Neck slug coil and bridge screw coil in parallel
4: Bridge humbucker in parallel
5: Bridge humbucker in series
The Superswitch enabled me to switch each coil (four in total) in and out for each switch position. I could not have done this with a standard five-way switch.
