Re: What is brand of Jim Croce.
Ovations are a different animal. I sold Ovations and their high end Adamas models back in the late 70's, early 80's.I agree that they are quite uncomfortable to play sitting down! I play and love your traditional wood, dreadnaught, O, OO, OOO, Grand Concert, etc acoustics. I've played many Ovations that had a wonderful tone.....and I've played some that sounded like crap....pretty much like wood guitars! The Adamas were some pretty amazing guitars in ther day. The first carbon fiber guitars years before Rainsong, et al. I even bought a Korean made Ovation Celebrity back in 1993. I needed an acoustic, had a budget in mind and proceeded to play every acoustic in that price range at several stores. The one that spoke to me above all others was that stinking Celebrity! The one with the sound holes like the Adamas models. Played the hell out of it for a few years and wound up trading it for a few lap steels and a pedal steel. While I don't really care for the look of Ovation guitars and have no thoughts of ever owning one again, if a guitar speaks to me tone wise/playability wise and is what I consider a bargain, I don't care if it's made out of newspaper.....I'll find a way to get it!
Back in the day, they were 'the guitar' if you were going to plug in. Glen Campbell, Jim Croce, Nancy Wilson of Heart, Steve Howe....the list goes on....lot's of great players used them to great effect.
