What is the Value of "Made In USA" for SD Pickups?

Re: What is the Value of "Made In USA" for SD Pickups?

thank you for asking us evan

i met the line workers at ugd ... they were warm, friendly, and helpful to me ... i knew i'd never buy another brand of pickup after that day, in part because those men and women extended to me a kindness commensurate with their ability to do so and in line with the values expressed by kathy and everyone else who hosted us that day ... they are americans ... so it matters

i'd pay more for the products that you all make to keep those folks working

i'd like to think that i align with zerb on this, but i am sad to say that i am not as diligent as he is in avoiding chinese goods - especially with my 'consumable products purchases' ... but with my luxury items, i do my best to be diligent in avoiding chinese products ... guitar toys are luxuries ...

Evan,
To me, it means most importantly that you value quality above profit, and that you value your employees as a real asset.

+1 !!!

To me, Seymour Duncan plus "Made in America" means great and consistent quality as well as keeping much-needed jobs in the U.S. I realize that outsourcing the manufacture of products in other countries cuts labor costs and employee liabilities which equals higher net profits, and if I owned a big company I'd probably be looking down those avenues myself as I'd be thinking in a more capitalistic manner. But being a blue-collar man and watching more jobs jump over the borders everyday makes me wonder where this country of ours is going to be in ten or twenty years down the road. Where are our kids and grandkids going to work? How are the people of the U.S. going to support themselves with the ever-rising cost of living and less jobs?
The American dream is turning into an American nightmare! Too much greed!!

To me, Made In America means made with pride and that the money I'm spending on that product is going towards support of that company, no matter what the relation is, direct or indirect. When I buy things, I look at where it's made. Naturally I lean towards the stuff that's Made in America, or Made in USA (remember, Canada is part of America - North America).

I know that the Seymour Duncans I buy and would buy are Made in USA but it would be neat to see it stamped in the baseplate and inner jewel sleeves. Heck, I'd like to see "Made by MJ" on the Custom Shop pickups she does, not just on the jewel case sleeve. Same with those that Seymour makes.

Thanks for asking, Evan.

Evan, I have to agree 100% with Erik.

Also, if you guys switch to overseas production...even if the quality remains the same, I'll stop buying Duncan products. Keep the jobs here. I'm willing to pay the premium.

BEST regards,

Johnny
