What is your favorite Chorus Pedal

I'm on a hunt for a new Chorus Pedal.
I currently have the TC Electronics Cornoa Chorus + That just doesn't work for me. So I decided to start looking for a new one.
My all time favorite was the CE-20 Double pedal by Boss. I sold it like a fool but we all have done at many times.
So now I want to look at Chorus Pedals and my gut feeling is to find a used CE-20 as they don't make that anymore , Try out the The 1 and 5 from Boss but I'd like to try other brands to see how they compare to the Boss pedals.
I've always felt Boss owns Chorus as over the decades I've been playing, I never heard a better sounding chorus. I thought this new Corona Chorus + was gonna be awesome but I find it weak and un exciting. So for me it's gotta go.
I keep hearing about the analog MXR Chorus, I want to test drive that one. Anyone own it? I tried the Analog Delay and found it to alter my tone when off or on. I found it strange to do so. I don't think it was true bypass but at the time I had a DD-7 by Boss and I couldn't tell any difference with it in the signal chain or removed, It sounded exactly the same. When I put the MXR delay in, it darkened up my tone like it was cutting the high end response a bit just by wiring it in the same spot as the DD-7. I'm also assuming it has no built in buffer. I'm wondering if the analog Chorus is going to do the same thing?

I also heard Chorus isn't used that much anymore, I have no idea why it's one of my if not my favorite effect. But then again I'm a 80's guitar player and we all know how much us 80's guys love chorus LOL.

Thanks in advance.

If you liked the Boss that much, why not look into what they're producing now? I immediately thought that the new Waza version would be right up your alley. Mick and Dan do a great run through here:

Thanks so much for the link. WOW the Waza Craft is fantastic and exactly what I wish the Corona chorus+ could do. Boss absolutely owns Chorus effects. Thats how chorus should sound
Even the CE-2 and the original killer CE-1 was both just down right fantastic.

Thats IT , I'M GETTING IT!!!!!
On a side note the analog man is pretty damn fantastic as well.

I've had chorus pedals from Boss, Ibanez, DigiTech, & EHx; and I've played around with many others over the years. Boss owns chorus. My favorite one is the CEB-3. I like how it can go from subtle shimmer to seasick vibrato & everything in between.

Re: What is your favorite Chorus Pedal

I like the Voodoo Lab Analog Chorus. It's supposed to be a clone of the CE-1 or 2. You can find them for about half the price of the new Waza Craft CE-2.

The Analogman one is nice too, I think that's the EHX Small Clone circuit with more options.

That was an awesome chorus- kind of sucks that they stopped making those.

Yup. As soon as they went to the Waza, I just immediately thought "why the hell would anyone looking for Boss-ish chorus NOT want that pedal?!"

Digitech CF-7

7 great models, one of everything you would want, and most models have more adjustable features than the original. If you can't pick a model and dial it in, you suck or you don't like chorus or both.

MY MAN!!!!! If I was gay I'd give you a kiss. LOL
DUDE I picked up the Waza CE-2W and it's incredible. There is NOTHING like Boss Chorus. There is a reason many use Boss for chorus. There is a good reason why so many pedal companies try to copy the CE-1 and CE-2. They are what I hold in high regard as the very best sounding Chorus effects ever made. WOW. But WAIT THERE'S MORE!!!!

To my surprise the Buffer in the Waza Chorus is WAY better then the Bonafide Buffer which is a stand alone Buffer Pedal from tc electronics. It's gets you back some of the high end loss when you use it with a pedal board with over 8 pedals which I have 12. I run less now as I was trying to retain my high end tone which was lost when I started using a lot of True Bypass pedals from tc electronics. The Modulation pedals and the Sentry Noise gate have the ability to switch between Buffer and true bypass. So I played around with that a lot and got some of the loss back by using the Bonafide buffer out front then using the Hall Of fame Buffer. But here is the sheer kicker, when I put the Waza Chorus on my board, I made quite a mess as I re wired real quick to try it out and straight compare it to the Corona Chorus+ and BAM all my high end came back. I was kinda shocked how damn good my rig was sounding even with all pedals off and just playing dry. The Buffer in the Waza pedal is superior to all the tc electronics pedals. WOW what a difference. Why the hell did I move totally away from Boss I'll never know, mental moment I guess.

I gotta give it to Boss, this pedal is straight amazing. The Video posted on here you get an idea how good it is but man when you put it in your rig you wonder why you didn't own this the day it hit the market. It's so lush full and warm and the effect is deep and crystal clear. It's as fantastic as your can dream it would be and then some. My god it's so damn good.
To be fair it does cost a bit more then the Corona Chorus+ but it's worth every single penny at full retail and then some. To also be fair, the Corona sounds MUCH better with the Waza on the board as it's buffer bright out all my pedals quality. The Corona Chorus + isn't as subtle as it was when I didn't have the Waza. This mind you is with the Waza off but it still engages the Buffer.

I was at Sam Ash music and I was talking to a few guys and they said the Waza Tuner is what everyone is after for the Buffer on high end pedal boards. They are moving away from all other Buffers and Tuners and using the Boss Waza Tuner. I'm gonna get one not that I need it as the buffer in the Chorus is crazy badass and really brought back the life I was missing.
I started chasing down my entire wiring and went Mogami Gold to try and retain sound quality. Now with Mogami and Waza working together the circle of tone is complete.
I'm home ladies and gentleman and I'm buying a Boss Waza T-shirt.

Thank you again VinceT, you single handedly saved my tone. I can't thank you enough. You are DA MAN!!!!!

I'll snap a pic, just don't mind the mess I made of my board LOL.

I moved my effects loop pedals off the top raiser and moved over my in front of amp pedals, moved my Tuner and removed the Mojo Mojo and BBE Sonic Maximizer so I can do a shutout with the pedals and control them easier then when I have everything wired as I like it. So it's messy I know but you get the idea

Such a big board, so much space, yet so few pedals & that too most look alike in shape? Shame on you!! lol

I noticed the buffer on the flashback doesnt add much colouration besides making the signal sound stronger with slight normalization of output. Also seems to add hiss a bit & i felt the treble was sounding rounded off. That is one pedal I prefer running in TB mode.

I had a similar mxr experience like you with mc404 wah. It's not quite as true bypass sounding as my ehx memory boy, turbo tuner or the flashback. I found a placement that helps, though not 100% satisfied with it but I like the sound it makes when turned on so its staying around.

Doesn't look like you are using the toneprint features much on the reverb or delay from the pics. If you aren't liking the FB then check out digitech's dl8 & obscura, also the new boss dd500(?) is quite nice feature wise but big & little expensive.

I put the board back the way I usually have it. I put the effects loop pedals on the raiser I built and the front of amp effects down the bottom. The Volume pedal is however the first in line in the effects loop so I can have volume control behind the preamp so I don't lose gain while adjusting volume. It's a 250k.

I took out the 1/4 to 1/4 jumpers as I'm pretty sure I'll be swapping pedals in and out to further my tone quest with my board.
I built the board myself and it has plenty of room. The amp switch will go once I pick up the Boss ES-8.

I messed around with the Toneprints and have found some very good one. I also enjoy tweaking myself so I don't always use them. I have ones loaded in all the Tone Print pedals.
I'm still in awe about how much better the Boss Waza Buffer is then all the tc pedals including their stand alone buffer. One would think a pedal designed to be a buffer and only a buffer would work at least as good or better then a pedal with a buffer built in. Just not the case.

Re: What is your favorite Chorus Pedal

Ace is right! The Chorus Factory ended my search for a good chorus. These days, they are cheap, too. But they get pretty much any chorus sound you need from the last 40 years. From Boston, to Rush, to Metallica. It is quiet and sounds wonderful in every mode.

I've tried Digitech pedals in the past and never found one I liked a lot. They always seemed to be a copy of whatever Boss was doing. Money isn't always my driving factor to buy a pedal. It's gotta sound and do what I want it to do. If it's cheap cool, if it's expensive, I'll figure out a way to purchase it.

I'm no fan of modeling technology. I always find fault in it one way or another. It's like something just isn't quite right. Boss does a horrible job at modeling amps

Every effect (compression, saturation, chorus, flange, and echo) had its origin with magnetic tape. Every pedal after that is a model of the original effect. Sooo ... unless you are a) getting your effects from some Ampex or b) using no effects whatsoever not found on your valve guitar amp -- it's a model.
