If I really had one favorite, I'd probably only own one guitar. But the one that is kind of my go-to, one that I gigged with multiple bands for over a decade, that has proven to the be most versatile, able to play everything from hard rock to country to blues to funk, the one that has never let me down in terms of sounding right no matter what song was thrown at me, the one that can stay in tune for an entire night of 3 sets or 4 hours of playing despite being lead guitar and bending the heck of solos, and the one that I didn't even want to buy and didn't like it when I first saw it and tried it, didn't like the finish at all, but it's a mid-2000s Fender Highway 1 Telecaster. Spec-wise, it's like a 1955 Telecaster. Now it's like that beat up, stained coffee mug my Mom gave in high school that I still use every day but take for granted and wouldn't consider replacing. I put a Seymour Duncan Broadcaster in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan 1955 Antiquity neck pickup in, and have never looked back. (The Bigsby was a temporary mod. It's back to the normal string-through-body bridge now.)

This is Red, who used to be red.For most of his life he sported a pair of Harmonic Design Z90s.
I Dremeled out the bridge route and have a Wolfetone Meanest 90 ready to replace the bridge Z90. For now, it will be wired with 2 volume and master treble / master bass controls. I may eventually add a middle HB and stereo wiring. That's the plan, but who knows if or when it will happen.
Red used to have a 25.25" scale (yes, that's correct, and no, I don't know why they did it). I used to play him with 11s, but my fingers can't do it any more. So am I switching to lighter strings? No, that would be too easy. I took a saw to the fingerboard and put a Tusq nut where the first fret used to be. It's closer to Jaguar scale than Gibson scale at this point.
I have everything I need to get him going, I just need to sit down for a few hours and do it. The frets are dressed and polished, I have all the electronic componenents diagram ready to go. There's nothing holding me back except me at this point.

I love the flat layout of the explorer. The balance and heft make these things comfortable and pack some heat!
Neck is narrow for speed and comfortable chords, that makes them forgiving as well.
Action is really low and frets are smooth.
Emty Blackouts absolutely slay! Punchy, aggressive, tight, snarling beasts that can sing as well.
The explorer looks sharp, and sounds unique.

My Ibanez PL. I read about them and decided to take a punt and get one as it has features I was interested in - several pu options beyond standard, non-recessed trem, HSS. Good thing, they're stratospherically priced now.
When it arrived, as soon as I put my hand around the neck, it was done
. As a result, I put in some pups to taste, new pots, 5 way, made a new pickguard to replace the original one which was broken. I need to level the frets to bring her back to perfect playability.

First of all, I love Red.
I can imagine him finished, and with the insane mods you made I think Red shall slay again. A 335/Casino type guitar is all I need to basically finish my collection of guitars/projects.Second, I love the amp. I don't know what exact model that is but I have a THR30II wireless and I love it. For the money, best bedroom amp I've ever owned, you can get a lot of killer tones out of it. Here's a pic of my strat chillin' with it's bedroom buddy.
I understand this completely. This strat spent 6-7 years semi-sanded down, in a closet in a spare room. One day it just clicked, I had to do it immediately. It felt like working on myself more so than on the guitar. And the rewards felt multitudes greater than the time and work spent on it. Just do it man!

Jazz or 59 in the neck? My Jazz is about to evacuate the dinky neck pickup slot, and in it's place, a '59, to sit paired with a Dimebucker, as The Lord Almighty intended, Amen.

I have multiple guitars so it depends on the mood. Currently it's this MIJ Schecter I acquired this past Saturday; almost brand new, the seller only had it for 8 months. Very very cheap, think MIM Strat price. It's like winning someone else's hot wife for one night stand, like Robert Redford in 'Indecent Proposal', only instead of a million bucks, it's a hundred dollars.
It comes with a low-cut knob, which is basically the opposite of tone knob, cutting the low end as opposed to the treble. The push/ pull tone knob has 2 capacitors, one for each I guess?
Schecter branded Gotoh trem with brass block (not that I care but some people believe the block affects tone):
Two strap buttons like 90s Schecter when the brand commanded a great deal of respect and played by seasoned pros, as opposed to teens/ bedroom players today.

I only own four guitars, and they all fulfill different functions, so I don't really have a favorite.
The LTD EC-1000 in transparent green is tuned to E standard and used for a pretty wide range of styles. Most of what I play is in E standard so I guess that's why it gets used the most?
Epiphone Les Paul is tuned to E flat and used primarily for metal.
The Schecter Omen Extreme is tuned to D standard and used primarily for metal.
The Sterling Cutlass is tuned to drop D and used specifically for songs in that tuning, though I'll often switch it back to E standard if I want to use the vibrato bar in that tuning.
They're all great to play in their own ways. I probably have a slight affinity for the two single-cuts, but it really depends on what I'm into at any given time. If I'm in a modern metal phase, the Schecter and Epiphone are getting used a ton. And so on.
