What is your "holy grail" amp?

Re: What is your "holy grail" amp?

I'd go for a Naked Amp by Dave Friedman or a Suhr/CAA OD100SE+.

They're both relatively, simple, very powerful amps that sound amazing. HUGE pure-sounding tones. They're different, but I'd take either of them.

Easily a Soldano Decatone.

Re: What is your "holy grail" amp?

I have absolutely no idea. I like a lot of amps, and to me they are just another *loud/fun* tool. I guess I would like to have a SLO-100/6505+/Laney 120 Ironheart/Bogner Shiva or something.

Re: What is your "holy grail" amp?

In Order:

#1 Mesa 50 watt Stiletto combo
#2 Marshall JCM 900SL-X 50 watt head

#3 Peavey 5150 2x12 combo
#4 Marshall JMP-1
#5 Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36
#6 Mesa Lone Star

Re: What is your "holy grail" amp?

Something from Bruce Zinky. I currently own a 25 watt Blue Velvet so ether a Mofo or Superfly head.

This is why i LOVE Bruces stuff SO much NOTHING responds to touch like a Zinky NOTHING!

Had a one off 120 watt Prosonic head Bruce hand built while at Fender and gave to Brad Whitford at one time what a BEAST that head was!!
Nothing comes close to a Zinky for me!

I had a 50 watt head with a rect series 2x12, and I can confirm that this amp is just as awesome as everyone thinks it is. I'd never get a Marshall, just because the Stiletto ace exists.

But, for me, that was another era of tone searching. These days, I'd have to say my ideal would either be a Mesa Lonestar, or even more so, a Dr.Z Max 18. Man, I'd kill for one of those in red......

I'd need a high end music store filled with every amp to be happy. So far the closest I've found to make me happy is the EVH 5150 50 watt since it's giving me Fender, Marshall and Soldano tones.

I like the Splawn Super Sport too, I'd have to try that back to back with the EVH since they're very similar
