What NEVER Gives You GAS?

Personally, I can't get excited for flame maple tops. They drive the price up, and they look too "pretty". I don't want an instrument that's flat-out ugly, but no museum pieces for me. It's got to be rugged and practical.

Another thing I don't like: Double locking trems on my guitars. I mostly play bass, but my guitars all have either a fixed bridge or a Strat trem. Double locking trems look terrible, cost more, make changing strings difficult, make changing tunings difficult.... I guess they improve tuning and intonation if you plan on throttling the whammy bar, but I never do, so it's a worthless feature that hurts more than it helps in my eyes.

So, what NEVER gives you GAS? What feature or instrument is everyone clamoring over that you just can't get excited about?

Semihollow-Bodys are what never gives me gas. Just not my style and too vinatge for me.

Vs, explorers, SGs never give me gas
guitars with floyds never give me gas
gretchs never give me gas
mustangs/jaguars never give me gas
4x12 cabs never give me gas

With the exception of Telecasters, single coils don't give me GAS. I know some of the best albums and tones have been recorded with single coil Strats, but they're just not for me. They're just not girthy enough.

Mustangs and Jaguars - not counting the non-traditional shapes, they are the ugliest guitars ever made.

Aside from that, body shapes get me less excited than fit and finish. That said, I'm a sucker for any nice looking top (be it figured or plain) with a transparent finish, just so long as it ain't a black to brown burst.

Jaguars and mustangs. Just dont like them, something is a bit wrong about them to my eyes. These days i dont have GAS, i have what i want for now within my needs. I have no real need for a trem, i have a good amp, my guitars are comfortable in my hands and i have more or less all the pedals i want (though i would like a chorus but not feeling pressed for one). Guitars arent really giving me GAS now since i feel content and just get on enjoying playing what i have.

I agree that I never GAS for semi-hollows or Parker Flys. Those never did anything for me. Fender Jaguars and/or Jazzmasters aren't my favorite by a long shot, but I think they're very cool.... mainly because I associate them with Sonic Youth. Where the hell did that Gary Glitter comment come from?

I once owned a Jackson Kelly but other than that, I've never had a "pointy metal" axe.

When it comes to pointiness, I think it can go too far. I would consider Dean's Dime Razorback to be TOO pointy.

Ohhh man I am in bad shape
Off the top of my head I can't just say ohh yeah this or that I just do not want this or that....

I guess like Bogners and Geronimo and what not I know they are outstanding but for the place I am in, I just do not see that kind of $$ but I guess that is more of a $$ non-gas than anything else, but again I don't see them and say ohh man I gotta have one

Oh well the 80s style guitars like Kramers or whatever, again I know they have their place but just don't do it for me... (shall i duck now??)

Yes.

Strats can become awfull dull once you see about 50 of them hanging on a wall.
