What pedal am I looking for?

Hey guys,

I'm really trying to get my Metallica sound just right. I know alot of Metallica's recordings sound so heavy because the guitars are doubled. Is there a pedal that can make my 1 guitar sound doubled or thicker?

I'm using my ESP KH602 to a TU-2, CS-3, GE-7, Dunlop Wah, to my Marshall TSL602.

I like Boss pedals, can you tell?

Re: What pedal am I looking for?

A Boss Delay pedal would be a good start. An Octive pedal is also a real cool pedal for solos and such.

Re: What pedal am I looking for?

can anyone recommend settings for dd3 to accomplish a doubling effect?

I have a dd6, and I was trying to do something similiar, but the really short delay settings kind of sounded weak and hollow to me.

Re: What pedal am I looking for?

I have a DSl and I run a BBE thru it and when my friend came over and ran his guitar with EMG's in it , it was nailing the Metallica sound .

I hated it ,so I decided that I didn't want to go with EMG's.

Re: What pedal am I looking for?

Using a delay for doubling won't get you any closer to the sound of a truly doubled guitar.....trust me, I've tried. :)

a second guitarist?

ok i always hated to play alone with our drummer! My guitar seems to be that thin alone! The only thing which helped was to play thru a better cab (Mesa Std instead of 1960B)! An overdrive seems to fatten a guitar up nice for rythm too!
A delay is more for lead imo....
But you can't copy a doubled sound i think:
On a doubled track both are different there is nothing the same and it mixes in a chaotic way there is no relation beatween this two waves.
On delay the sound is just repeated which i think make our brain just
believe there is an echo! + the second signal has a much lower volume!
Maybe a stereo setup helps out....
