What pickups did Dave Mustaine use Peace Sells?

I have heard people say Dimarzio Super Distortion were used, but I have also seen pics with what looks like bill lawrence pickups in his guitar. I have also heard JB but I think he started using them in Rust In Peace didn't he?

Just wondering if anyone has any info.

Peace Sells was recorded while Dave was still using BC Rich, so a PAF / SuperD combo most likely. He switched to Jackson and started using the Lawrence in the neck with a JB in the bridge toward the end of the Peace Sells tour. The first album to feature JB would've been So Far, So Good, So What!

In this video from October 1986, he was using Lawrence in both positions of one of his black BC Rich guitars:

And this was supposedly taken in the ~1984/5 time period. Looks like Bill Lawrence in one and something more traditional in the other (Duncans?):

He's said that he put a JB in one of his BC Rich's, so maybe that's in the black one in the previois post. I think a JB would get you pretty darn close.

I don't know the answer, but I did have that album when it came out, and I enjoyed the heck out of it!

I'd also guess a JB or a Super Distortion for that recording. One of the things I've always loved about the Peace Sells album is how little gain/distortion Dave was using. The playing was heavy and intense, but to my ear the tone was much less distorted than some of the band's contemporaries. Truly a unique sound; hard rock guitar tone on a thrash metal album.

I don't know about peace sells but in Rust in peace he used an Dimarzio X2N...

AFAIK Dave never used an X2N, and if he did it was well before Rust in Peace. The blade pickup in the 'Megadeth' logo'd King V is a Lawrence L500 in the neck position, while the bridge is a JB.

I'veo nly ever seen the destroyer in a Metallica promo shoot (pre-cliff even?)

Also, why don't you shoot him a tweet asking what guitar he used on PS...might narrow it down.
