What retube kit to buy from Eurotubes.com?

I decided I might as well get a full retube whil I'm at it trying to fix my amp.

Now I admit I play more of a metal style but I still like my crappy pop-emo stuff (Self-hating emo kid). Would the high gain retube kit be too over the end or am I not going to notice to much of a difference. Or should I just say screw it and get the standard retube kit.

My amp is a Mesa Single Rectifier Solo 50 Series I, I run it through a Splawn 4x12, and no effects as of yet.

Higher gain tubes usually just means your preamp section will tighten up and sound it's best, in most cases. Eurotubes is basically a JJ distributor, so he'll always suggest JJ.

I really like the JJ and Svetlana 6L6's, but I think JJ's are better as drop in replacement on a Mesa, since they fall within the bias specs.

For pre tubes, the JJ EC803S (Telefunken copy), GT12AX7C, and Sovtek 12AX7 LPS
are my favorite, and are guaranteed to make your amp sound better than it does now.

Better yet....call him.

Bob will talk your ear off but he does a killer job at asking the right questions and listening to your answers.

Bob's my go-to guy for tubes....

Bob is a good doobie, he will help you if you call. In fact, he may talk your ear off.

I am not a big fan of one brand tube replacing all, but if you must, JJ's are a decent tube.

+1 for Bob at Eurotubes. I sent the guy a simple question about retubing my Marshall and got a dissertation on tubes. He gave me all sorts of scenarios on how to retube. Plus he talks a lot in actual tone as it relate to the tubes, which is helpful.

I just re-tubed my Mesa rack with JJs and I am loving it. I ordered a matched octet and matched drivers for the 2:90 and the high gain set for my Triaxis and the amps tone is fat and nasty. Better and tighter bottom end, the mids are rounder and very full sounding and the top end is focused and singing.

The clean tones are round and very lively.

The noise level dropped significantly compared to Mesa labeled tubes.

Best thing I ever did for that rig.

When I had my Rectoverb, I did a full retube when I first got it with a high-gain kit from Bob. It definitely improved the gain, but it also did NOT kill the cleans, which was a good thing .
