What SD pickup matches with a PG neck?

Hello everyone, I just received a new Dean evo Premium with PG's in the bridge and neck position. I like the tone of the PG neck but the bridge is a little too bright. What would be a good match in the bridge for the PG neck? I play mostly hard rock and metal. Thanks! :laugh2:

Well, I paired a Distortion in the bridge with a PGn in my Hamer Special FM. As soon as I can figure out what I messed up with the wiring I can tell you how it sounds. :smack:


By the way, if you know anything about wiring, check my thread and see if you can help.

a Custom Custom would be stronger and less bright than the PG bridge if you want to go that route...... i had a CC/PG set once and it matched pretty well

I'd say a Custom Custom....it's not as bright as some and it's alnico 2 like the PG. lew

Same here. I thought they were a fantastic match. Unfortunately, the PGn wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but that's a different story.

It's unanimous! (almost) Someone tell Seymour to put out a new matched set - Pearly Gates Neck / Custom Custom Bridge - Hot & Spicy, good for all kinds of stuff.

I've heard good things about a '59 bridge / PG neck combo.. never tried it myself though.

Check my review thread for the DD/PG combo. Keep in mind that the Distortion is my absolute favorite pickup.

59/PG? Seems a bit odd Do you mean PG bridge and 59 neck? Isn't PG a little hotter than a 59? The PGb/59n would be a slightly low key version (but a bit more vintage maybe) of the CC/PG combo.

Kick it up a nocych CC bridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he's already got PG bridge tho, and doesnt like it......but i would also think that the 59 might have a little more treble than the PG bridge perhaps, as a result of A5 mag with more bass and highs

either way, CC/PG is the way i'd go
