Seths have sounded great in any LP I have tried them in. For a more 70's sound, check out the Whole Lotta Humbuckers or the Alnico II Pro sets. If you are really into getting the exact 70s pickups, troll ebay, and they come up once in awhile (when that person discovers Seths)![]()
Yea I really liked the sound clip of the Seths!
Didn't Seth Lover invent the humbucker? Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought he created the first humbucker
If you mean the short A5 in a 490R makes it a T-Top, don't bother.I gotta do this 490 mod or else it'll just be a splinter in my mind :smash:
what they call Golden Age. They are very reasonably priced. The only thing is they are not Gibsons. But they are supposed to be very good pups.
Well, actually, no.Golden Age was the model designation used by Schaller for their PAF wannabe clone humbuckers.

It's the hardest-to-die metropolitan legend among guitar players.
HTH,
Seths are a big improvement over the 490s. Go for the PGs if your LP is a little darker, or you need the higher eq profile.
Good deal!! I'm still wondering what the 490's will sound like with A3's or A4's I think I'm a bit hard headed :kabong:
I wouldn't look at it as being hard headed–if you know how the 490's sound in that guitar before the mod then doing the mod will educate you on how the magnet swap affected the tone. Experience is vital in developing your own tone.
Ok, Andy. Let's do this the smart way:Hi! I recently acquired a Gibson 70's Tribute that has the Dirty Fingers PUP's. I don't really like them and was thinking about swapping in some 490R and 490T to keep with the whole 70's theme

Do you already have the 490R/490T set?
