Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

10-52 on everything except my strat, it gets 10-46.

I think I'm going to find some 11-52s to go back on my ES. The Everly Swingers set with a wound 3rd sounded great.

Mostly I use GHS boomers, if we had any Everly dealers around here I'd use them.

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

hmm i bought two packs of dadarrio XL .10-.52's should be inteersting to try a new brand of string next time i string it up. If they sound as good then they are a keepers since they cost a buck less!

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

I currently use Dean Markley 10-46 on all my Electric guitars (aside from when I need to re-string unexpectedly and don't have any available). But have been thinking about maybe trying 10-52 or 11-49 for a change :)

I think I have 12-52 on my Acoustic at the moment.

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

Right now i have 10-46 on my Ibanez GAX70. Reason being that they bend easy but arent too mall to snap, and because I can pinch harm. very well on them.

i may be going to a thicker gauge again like 11's because I am very deep into Static-X and they play drop c.

we'll see what happens

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

As of now, I'm getting my V set up for 11-49's, because it mixes the best of both worlds for me.

My Warmoth Tele.. I'm thinking of going with 11-56's or so, get a bit of meat out of it.

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

10-46 and huge frets for 25.5", and 10-49 for 24.75" scale for a little bit more tightness. Newtone strings.

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

I use 10-52. Been using it for the past 2 years. I was playing in E standard when I started using these. I was playing 11-52 before I switched, I switched to ease up the tension on the higher strings so I could bend better. Then I changed over the Eb standard tuning, I just kepth the guage. I've been thingking about moving up to 11-52, but that means I would have to change brands (I use D'Adarrio) and I'm usure about doing that. If I did, I would probably go with Dean Markley again, but I don't remember how they were back when I used them.

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

I use DM Blue Steel 10-52's. I tried out different guages, heavier and lighter(usually heavier) but in the end these just felt the best. Been using them for the past 5 years now.

11-48 Power Slinky

Just a slight aside here - does anyone know anyone who uses 7-36? That's amazingly light! I knew a guy who used 8s on a Les Paul and he always had great tone!

No, but I DO know (or at least used to know, I built his guitar) a guy that played 6-32 . lightest high E I´ve ever seen, i didn´t even know they made them that light until he came :saeek:

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

I read in GP that Yngvie uses 8's -- and on a Strat at that. Still gets a big tone but they're way to mosquito-y tone for me.

I use 11-52 on my LP and 355

11.5 - 54 on my Strat, tuned to E-flat though. (Considering putting on 12's and tuning to D...)

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

I have been using Ernie Ball Super Slinky's 9-42 on all of my guitars for years.

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

I used to use 10-52, then 11-54. I thought for a moment about how much better I might play with lighter strings, so I setup for 9-46 and what a difference it made. That was about a year ago, and I'm still using 9-46 on a 25.5" guitar.

On both my basses, I use 50-105.

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

I use 11-54(ernie ball beefy slinkies) but I voted 11-52 because it was close enough lol. I love the feel of the heavier strings. You really have something to dig into without fear of breakage and they're still not too big to be playable. Im getting all my friends switched to 11s. They say they are way too heavy for them at first but they get used to it and thank me later. :)

Re: What String Gauge\Thickness do you use?

Acoustics...... D'Adarrio J17's (13 thru 56) in many tunings standard, dropped D, open D open G, Bb . When using a lower tuning on acoustic I need a string that will hold up and not be to floppy.

Electrics....... D'Adarrio XL115 (11 thru 49) tuned to standard. Open E and open A
