Re: What strings do you use

I just did a fun experiment with my strat- my low E is a heavy guage E, my A and D are regular guage E's, my G is a regular D, and my B and high E are heavy guage B's. They are a mixture of Dean Markleys (I like wound G's) and D'Addario's. It feels like the guitar is more "honest," especially in combination with my flat SC's, because the strings are much closer to each other in size. Makes me work harder but feels better under my fingers. Custom string set, here I come!

Re: What strings do you use

Dean Markley Blue Steels or Nickel Steels. Been using them for a good 10-12 years. I used to use Ernie Balls before that, the 5150 9-40 strings. Those were great on my Frankenstrat. Fender XL150 9-40's are pretty good too. Since I've gone to 10-46 gauge, it's been nothing but Dean Markley. Haven't had the breakage issue some seem to run in too. Tried DR Blues once and won't again. Didn't like 'em, wouldn't intonate on my guitars.

D'Addario XL 10-46 in my electric guitars (1967 Emperador 335 copy, Epiphone SG Custom and Cort X-6)

D'Addario Pro Arte Extra Hard Tension in my classical guitar.

Re: What strings do you use

I think I am gonna get settled with La Bella's 9-42 Hard Rocking steel. Very strong tone.
