What strings/gauges are you using?

Wondering what everyone's using for each scale and tuning. For electric I'm still using Ernie Ball Slinkys in the following gauges:

Strat/Tele (E): 10-46
Les Paul (E): 10-46 (thinking about trying 11-48s)
Les Paul (C): 12-56
Floyd Rose equipped Clone 25.5" (E): 9-42
Hardtail Clone 25.5" (D): 12-54

Acoustic (E): D'Addario Phosphor Bronze 12-53

10-46 on both of my strats. My super strat has S.I.T brand strings which I've found recently and like them over my DR tite fits but think I want to try the Stainless steel S.I.T strings because the Nickel rap steel core seem a bit warmer then the DRs.

Thinking about going down to 9-42 on my super strat or try some less stiffer springs in my trem cavity.

Super strat with floyd is in E standard
Squire strat is in Eb

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

I'm using Dunlop Heavy Core 10-48 strings tuned to D standard. If you play any sort of metal or rock you must try these strings for your guitars that you tune down on. I had them on my number 1 guitar (25.5" scale) tuned to C with the same gauge and they were only slightly to loose for my taste. I've used about 10 packs of them so far; they sound really good, they are consistent, and last longer than the D'addario and Ernie Ball strings I've used previously. I love 'em. I'm gonna get a box of 6 sets of the 12-54 gauge version for my 25" scale guitar that I'm going to tune to C (which will probably be pretty tight).

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

I discussed this topic several weeks ago at my website
I use 10-46 on electrics, 11-52 & 12-53 on my acoustic guitars, and high tension on my nylon string guitar.

The 11-50 Dunlop Heavy Core strings were pretty much perfecto for C standard on a 25.5 inch scale in my experience.

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

Ernie Balls on all of my electrics, except Daddario on acoustics.. myself combined sets:

Strat, E tuning and Drop D, 10-46 .
SG, E tuning and Drop D, 10-48 .
Les Paul, E flat tuning and Drop Db, 11-52 .
Ibanez RGA, C flat tuning and Drop B, 11-54 .
Tanglewood Acoustic, 11-54 i think or 52, E tuning .

I am doing a lot of drop tunings from standard tunings, so that's why so heavy gauges at low strings.

Huh, lots of light gauges.
My Ibanez RG420FBZ (25.5 inch scale): 11-50's in E
My Knock off strat (25.5 inch scale): 10-46 in E

I'm planning to go heavier on the strat.

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

GHS 9.5-46 Burnished Nickels on all my guitars (25-25.5" scales). Everything tuned to E.

I might have to change because I'm not sure my past source still does custom sets.

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

I use Dean Markley Nickelsteel 009-046 on almost everything. I used to have 010-052 on some guitars but a quick recording run indicated you can't hear the difference through the amp except when using vintage style single coils or as long as you don't play too hard.

The thing that bothers me about the DM 009-046 set is the 011 H string, it should be 012.

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

Depends on the guitar

I have electrics set up with 9-42, 9-46, 10-46, 10-52 and 11-49. I use D'Addario most of the time for electrics. As a rule of thumb thicker necked guitars get thicker strings.

My acoustics get 11-52 Thomastic Infeld strings

I go with what works for the guitar and feel I am looking for.

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

I lean on 10-46 most of the time on all my electric guitars...I do use 11-48's on my open G Telecaster sometimes and on my Melody maker which is tuned to open E I do sub the 10 for an 11 and the 13 for a 14.

My lap steel has a set of 14-58's with a plain 3rd and I'm flip flopping on my Baritone right now depending on the tuning...it's going between 13-62's that I use for C to C or a slinky feeling B to B or 14-68 for a tight/twangy B to B or a slightly more slack A to A.

I do have one odd ball right now...I have a set of flat wound 11-50 on my Esquire right now but I pulled the wound 22 G string and put on a plain 18.

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

Darco 10-46 on all of my electric guitars. They're cheap, sound good and have good longevity. I use Martin SP 12-54 strings on my acoustics.

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

I've gone all spagetti on my strings.

Strat: 8-38 in standard
hardtail strat: 10-49 in D standard or 11-52 in C Standard.
SG: 10-46 in D standard
Star (when it's finally done): 10-46 in D standard

My Ibanez as of yesterday has a 10-46 set in Eb standard, but I'm finally selling it today so I can finally be rid of the ibanez scourge.

All D'Addario XLs

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

GHS Boomer 10's exclusively except on my 73 LP, which has Diaddario 9's

Re: What strings/gauges are you using?

I've been reading the story of "Slinky: strings, that players essentially got rid of the low E, moved every string up one position, then used a banjo string for the High E. Does this mean that people were using 12-52s prior to the late 60's?
