please please dont tell me to ebay, wait for shipping, pay 40 bucks overnight etc

I live in OC just south of Los Angeles, I really refuse to believe this continents largest or 2nd agglomeration doesnt sell one somewhere in brick and mortar stores. And i want it today.

Soo...how do i properly describe this instrument to hardware stores or auto parts ppl? I mean the hex socket thung that LOOKS LIKE A SMOKING PIPE??

Japanese truss rods...hence "truss rod wrench". But thats a nickname, its not a tool invented for guitars, so....its gotta have a REAL name. And be used in some other field, for which it might be sold somewhere

GC does NOT carry the things, so i need alternative sources

Re: what the heck do you call an angled truss rod socket in hardware store lingo? nee

Frickin hell people, you ever TRY using normal ones? Please dont state the obvious and suggest trying normal hex sockets...They dont reach or fit. Google "7 mm truss rod tool" and look what pic comes up, i need that. In SoCal. Locally.

Re: what the heck do you call an angled truss rod socket in hardware store lingo? nee

Oh and btw...neither does stewmac, not in single 7 mm. Maybe in some massive expensive kit, but hey, im broke

Re: what the heck do you call an angled truss rod socket in hardware store lingo? nee

Is it a Gibson style or Fender style?

The common Gibson style is a 5/16" socket. The common modern Fender style is a 1/8" Allen wrench.

Re: what the heck do you call an angled truss rod socket in hardware store lingo? nee

Precisely. But from a store, and seems like guitar stores no longer carry em... Well, auto parts or hardware dont know em as truss wrenches.

What is this thin right angle socket tools NAME?

You're not going to find it in a hardware store or auto parts store. Plain and simple. It's a specialty tool. Best I can tell you to do is hit every music store you can think of in your area. Somebody is bound to have one.

I read the title. You never specified the model/size until after I posted that.

Seriously, go drive to all the music stores in the area. You live in OC. There should be a ton of them. It's a specialty tool and will not be in a hardware or auto store.

That being said, you *may* be able to get away with using a 7mm narrow socket to get in there. I've done that in the past with some Gibsons (different size of course). Like this (and they are plentiful at hardware stores):

Noooope. You STILL didnt read the title.

ANGLED. SEVEN. MM. SOCKET.

Geez

YOU didn't READ my RESPONSE!

"SPECIALTY TOOL"

A narrow 7mm socket like that pic is the only option from a hardware store. Comprende?

The name is "angled truss rod wrench" and, like I said, it's a specialty tool.

Re: what the heck do you call an angled truss rod socket in hardware store lingo? nee

Ok maybe i got all selfrighteous after seeing the pic...it was still deleted before your comment, not in response to it

Web seems to be telling me auto parts....hmm

find it yourself you non appreciative d-bag. I found exactly what you need in about 5 seconds on Google, and it only cost $5. Maybe if you had a better attitude towards people I would tell you where to find it.

Oh sure i ask how to CALL a 7mm angle socket when TALKING to a store - get a freakin stampede of lazy ppl telling me to: buy fender gibson, asking what its for, telling me to try straight buy online etc - not one person ANSWERS or even says "idk"

...and I'm non appreciatively evil, oh right, cuz theres soooo much to appreaciate.

Btw, AMAZON IS NOT LOCAL, MY RUDE ILLITERATE GOOGLE LOVER. And i *****never**** asked where to buy, at all.

I just asked for ITS .P.R.O.P.E.R. .N.A.M.E. !!!!!

...and yes it DOES have one, its not a guitar part nor manufactured by guitar companies, and certainly predated the first truss rod to ever require it.

Soooorrrrrryy for being a foreigner who doesnt know what to call tools. Btw, if a tourust asked you for directions, would you tell them to buy the map on amazon, or perhaps suggest purchasing a globe? Cuz thats what ive been so unappreciative about.

Do you know its name? No? K then, why r u replying?

If nobody does, who are all these ppl and why are they here? Very chan indeed... Except im 28 and i need a socket wrench. Getting all surprised and weirded out by geniuses who cant read a one line question might not be very helpful, but neither is much of anything here....except that thin profile straight thing, by the time that got suggested i saw the pic and thought it a dumb joke. And apologized when i realized my error.

Anyway, thx mom, but rly...are you helping? Or venting?

Guys in my amps questions answer relevantly and im plenty nice to them....hmm.

....anyway, very wrenchy discussion in a wrench topic. Should i maybe politely request "if you dont know please dont post responses" in any future cases? No discussion here, just a question... I at least try to be helpful, genuinely, in others questions.
