Snow and hail in hades indeed... For we seem, for once, in full and utter agreement

No agreement here - You're being the rear end of a mule.

You've gotten some helpful ideas. You've got to order what you need or modify something to work. I've never run into a truss rod I needed any more than a thin wall socket to adjust.

don't blame us because you do not know what something is called. Maybe you should just go away, take your name literal, and bid us adieu.

Heck, I just walk into ANY music store and politely ask them if they've got a box of allen and hex wrenches. They usually have tons of them from the boxes they unpack daily. They'll typically let me rummage through it till I find what I need for free.

But then again, I'm cool. :biglaugh:

Ooh, thx, now thats a though... I was figuring GC had none based on the lack of such an item as merchandise for sale on their site

Indeed, bye! By all means leave my question alone, if you have no answer and nothing constructive.... (and yeah i know what you mean, but ive been trying to kick YOU out of MY thread for being uselessly obstructive, since the very first thing you said, and that is whats got your panties in a knot...not the other way around lol)

In my alien mind, you dont know you ask - someone who knows answers. Answering when you cant be arsed to/are unable to read the question : impolite

Re: what the heck do you call an angled truss rod socket in hardware store lingo? nee

please please dont tell me to ebay, wait for shipping, pay 40 bucks overnight etc

I live in OC just south of Los Angeles, I really refuse to believe this continents largest or 2nd agglomeration doesnt sell one somewhere in brick and mortar stores. And i want it today.

Soo...how do i properly describe this instrument to hardware stores or auto parts ppl? I mean the hex socket thung that LOOKS LIKE A SMOKING PIPE??

If I were you, I'd start seriously considering ordering one online anyway, and continue to ring around as many local music stores as you can find, to see if they've got one lying round out the back or something. Chances are that someone can let you have something, but you may as well have an order in the pipeline anyway in case that doesn't pan out.

Didn't I mention earlier to go to all the music stores in your area and ask? Yeah, see post #10. :smack:

Ask for something theyve got extras of from bin of stuff that went with guitars that they forgot to give customers =/= ask them to look up a retail product you know already isnt in their system

Didnt realize that possibility

I didn't think I'd have to specify. If I need one, I walk in, go to the accessory counter or guitar dept guys and tell them what I'm looking for. They'll either say they don't have any on the retail racks or the'll go in the back and look for one. Common sense, dude. Just gotta go in and ask.

F-ing A Cotton, all you need to look for is a 7mm truss rod wrench. When I was looking for one I found it on ebay.

Stop being a ******.

Re: what the heck do you call an angled truss rod socket in hardware store lingo? nee

I have a boatload of tools. If someone asks and genuinely needs to borrow or know what it's called no problem. If they are a dick about it, then no. That being said I've only seen 2 types of truss rod adjustments in my years of playing. A Hex, that requires a socket, there are thin wall, impact(thick wall), deep well, medium well, shallow, and low profile, in 6 or 12 point. An Allen(inverted hex) that requires an Allen wrench, T-handle Allen, or Allen socket. All of these are available in SAE and Metric. You might need an extension to get where you need to be. I got really tired of the BS earlier in the thread so I may have missed what type of guitar you are working on. There isn't a fastener made that doesn't have a tool to fit it. Now, be nice, ask politely and you'll get a lot more help.

Ha ! You've answered your own question about four or more times.
Try reading past the first entry on your google search [ the one you suggested ]
There is also suggestions of where to go that you've ignored.
Happy hunting Mr. Myopic

Hex tools, Hex Keys, Hex wrenches; I wonder which one it is ...
