So I stopped by my old guitar teacher's house today. Hadn't seen him in probably about two years. He gave me this:
He says that he got it from a friend of his that died recently. All I know was that it was custom made for the guy. My teacher took the neck, but gave me the body for free, so I can't complain. Not that I would - I think it looks awesome in a really crazy kind of way.
A couple of things I have no idea about:
The pickups. Samshin? Not too much info out there, but they seem to be low end Korean made pickups. Anyone ever had any?
The thing in the last picture. It's a three way toggle on top, and it's got a little trimmer on the bottom. Whatever it is, it's active, as there's a 9V battery attached to it. Kinda reminds me of that Black Ice thing, except it's not used like a capacitor.
The Kahler. I've only seen very few in person, and never played one. The bar isn't original, obviously, so anyone know where I could get one? Any idea what model this particular bridge is? I want to find out how to use it, and what all the little hex keys do. Hell, I don't even know how to string it!
Anyone know what kind of wood it is? My guess is Maple, but I know little to nothing about identifying woods.
It'll be a while before I can afford a new neck for this thing, so unfortunately it's going to have to sit around for a bit. I'll probably have to junk the pickups, and I might as well scrap the pickguard and get a new one cut for it with just a master volume and master tone - those pots are way too close together for my liking. I have no idea if I'll keep that weird little switch thing - no idea what it even does.
