What The Hell??

Re: What The Hell??

One thing I'd highly suggest is get a better fitting neck on there - there's a sizable gap between the low-e side and the upper horn.

I hadn't even noticed that until you mentioned it. If the neck is too narrow for the body then I can only assume the bridge is too wide for the neck?..

Not to mention those years Roadstar and Blazer necks are some of the best Strat style necks you can buy anywhere. If you like small frets.

Re: What The Hell??

Not necessarily - look up some Roadstar II's with fixed bridges, see if it's the same critter. My guess is that the neck's too narrow for the body, but that the bridge is original.

I understand the bridge is original to the body, but what I was saying is that Likely the neck is more narrow then the bridge was intended for.

I saw those on ebay, I'm starting to think about what my options are and keeping this neck on it is seeming less likely. Although I really didn't want to be spending any real money on it. I'm not sure if I want to just get one of the OE necks or maybe a more traditional strat neck and make it info a full blown partscaster using the Ibanez body...

And I'm saying when you have two out of three parts right, why change one of the right parts? Leave the bridge, put on the right neck, and you're good to go.

Re: What The Hell??

That's what I was getting at too, I guess I could of worded it more clearly.

I just need to decided if I want to keep it as an HSS "Superstrat" Or change it to SSS "Partscaster" with more traditional style.

OR sell it.

Decisions decisions lol.

Re: What The Hell??

That video highly suggests keeping it, putt ing the right neck on it, and going HSS.

Should you decide otherwise, I'l give you $30 for everything that isn't the neck... ;-)

I agree totally agree, the problem is that I think the maple neck is going to be a lot more difficult to find then the rosewood fingerboard version. I very much dislike the dark boards for this guitar...

If I decide to let it go you'll get first dibs lol.

Re: What The Hell??

These necks can be had much cheaper than $150.

Just watch out that you don't get a 1st generation Blazer neck which is 22 frets without overhang and hence not compatible with the regular neck pockets.

Re: What The Hell??

I have to ask: what is going on with that pickguard? Is it a Tele guard, a Strat guard, or a Pbass guard?

Roadstars IIs and blazers (second generation) came in 3 pickguard variants with different length toward the plug. This is the medium length. It is original but cut up.

The original single coil pickups are not desirable.

Re: What The Hell??

^^ Yeah, ceramic jobs. Had some in my PL, though they had two small rail mags on either side of the steel slugs.

Body is Ibanez RS100; ash with mahogany veneer, iirc. 5 way level is also non-original; Ibanez never used open Fender style ones.

Re: What The Hell??

Hey there that is a nice Ibanez Roadstar body, solid Mohagany. Please don't paint it, also probably a Gibson Dirty Fingers pickup. If you want to sell the whole works Id gladly pay 150. Nice score

Thats not a dirty fingers... dirty fingers have double screw bobbins.

Re: What The Hell??

Definitely an Ibanez Blazer body from the late Seventies or early Eighties. Probably an Encore/JHS neck with a changed decal. The pickguard is original - albeit mangled.

The Ibanez single coils are called something like Super V. Bar pole, underslung ceramic magnet, zero tone and often microphonic.

On stock wiring, the mini toggle switch threw the central pickup electrically out-of-phase with the other two. I am confident that several better uses could be found for it.

I recall Blazers having just Master Volume and Master Tone pots. The third hole through the pickguard could be part of the modification.
