What to do, what to do....

Re: What to do, what to do....

Someone listed a Mk II B for $550 locally in good condition. :D I emailed him and said I would give him $500. Hopefully he bites... I figure I can always flip it if the cleans are not loud enough etc etc. The ones on ebay are $700+.

I already was looking at stuff I could get rid of, I could sell probably $350 of dirt pedals... I know I love the drive channel on these hehe. I guess if I can make up for it by selling extra stuff off and having a dream amp then... :)

I am a bit worried about it though haha. When I tried a Mk II back in late June I remember loving both channels but mostly focusing on the overdrive it had. My playing style has changed a bit so I hope I still like it as much as I did.

Now just waiting for a response. :D

Throw it all on your debt IMO. There are very few investments that have a bigger "return" than paying off debt. $8,000 is a lot of debt for a young person, and I would nip that **** in the bud ASAP. My two cents.

Yeah, I understand what you and everyone else is saying. I think if this Mesa thing doesn't go through I am just going to put it all on the debt. I think if I could come out with one of my dream amps for $150 and pay off $950 of debt, thats pretty damn good too.

Mesa and the rest towards debt. You're 20, and you only live once. If you dont like the amp, sell it and put it towards the debt.

I'll vote for this.

Well, I don't think you will be unhappy with the amp if you do get it.

I had a Mk. III 1x12 combo for many years. My dad custom ordered it new, and passed it along to me on permanent loan when he got his Marshall and Super Reverb. When my dad died, I sold it cheap to a long-time family friend who needed an amp. I really miss that amp. It was complicated, but extremely versatile, and very well built. I really don't see what could possibly kill it; it'll probably outlive me. Mesas are good investments if used as as long-term tools. They give you your money's worth and then some after years of reliable service.

I've talked to 3 different people here now that say the cleans are really loud. If they sound like this...

I think I will be pretty damn happy and from what I remember the Mk II basically had my perfect drive too. It had the ability to get a lot of sustain without a lot of distortion.... Then I would have a distortion or fuzz in front for when I wanted that sound.... Hope this guy responds soon....

Re: What to do, what to do....

I think I would-1. get the Yamaha 2. get yours fixed and speaker fixed now that you have something to play through 3. get a stereo chorus and run both amps or have one as a back-up. 4. get your dad something special 5. pay on the debt. Just my opinion btw.

My bud is still looking for his old footswitch. I'll let you know when he finds it.

Re: What to do, what to do....

WOW perfect deal!!

It's obvious we are here bc we are guitar players.
If your old amp was out, then what fun is that.
Like a sniper with a pistol.

This is also a detriment to morale, which can cause other problems in life.
Things like low morale can stop ppl from achieving other goals; like paying back your debt at all down the road.

Experts say that if you and a friend were trapped on a remote island and had to survive and had to choose between things like
a flashlight, a compass, a knife, and a deck of cards
that one of the most important would be the deck of cards

I hate debt too, I think its terrible
But it's important to remember that the best solution ISNT always just throwing your entire savings at it.

Assessment depends on the person and their situation; they are all different.

edit: Awesome that you found that deal man!
If you threw 5 at the amp, and threw some at the loan,
i'd bet it'd keep you motivated to continue making music (important)
and keep you excited about paying down the loan (also good)
