Mh...i would like a 7.2 - 7.5 A5 short magnet and low output humbucker..similar to those used by gibson from 1965 to 1970...

Hey between the talentbucker, talent simulator pedal, and the talent modeling all tube amp, anyone should be able to get a record deal!

not to spoil the fun, but Dimarzio has this covered with the Air Norton. it sounds amazing in both 22s and 24s(even in the middle on a steven carpenter sig).

Got 'em, played 'em, they're good; but not the same as a Cool Rails in the 22 fret neck.....and the Cool Rails doesn't sound quite as sweet in a 24 fret neck.....

I was thinking more along the lines that it would act like a humbucker when not split, i.e. have two coils of equal size. It would end up "tapping" the one coil that it converts to when split. That's why it would be hard. That coil would be like 7k on its own, but 4k when not split, and the other coil would be 4k. Something like that is what I had in mind.

What I would like to see is the "Seth Lover Plus"---say, a 7.7K neck and a 9.1k bridge, and POTTED so it won't squeal when I crank up my Mesa Mark IV. Clean bass, clear trebles, and a sweet, smokey midrange.

Might be THE "perfect" Les Paul pickup.

I bet that a potted and calibrated set of Seth Lovers with Alnico 5 or Alnico 3 magnets would be the greatest of vintage humbuckers!

Since the Phat Cat was originally commisioned by Hamer, AND IS NOT a P90 copy, a truer version in the more nasty/ratty Gibson style would be great!

And use blades, so that all...including Fender fanatics, and those who value metal pole material to the outside of the bridge string spacing, will have something to shoot for.

The humbucker market is already beyond saturation!!!!

a few single coil pickups in a humbucker housing to become mass production models

Oh yeah, how's about a 'bucker sized Filter'tron set? I'd get a couple pairs.

Big plus to that. GFS make a few on the cheap. Duncan with their reputation for quality would allow me to part money more confidently.

I think they already make filtertron replacements, so all you'd really have to do is ask for one in the humbucker housing to the custom shop. Me, I don't know if I would go with a set, unless I bought a new guitar to put it in, one that was a lot like a solid body Gretsch

Seems like we are on to something with the 24 fret neck bucker. I knew this was going to be a hell of an idea. I dont think anyone else makes one. SD could corner the market with one. There are alot of 24 fret axes out there and I bet alot of folks dont like the tone out of the neck.

Your right I hate using the neck pup on my 24 fret "V" . I just cant get a proper CHORD work tone from it. This is apup that I would like to see.

I honestly don't see enough difference in 24 versus 22 fret. I think it's more the guitar maker's fault if they are putting the humbucker where it gets a sucky signal from the strings. I have a 24fret Showmaster and 22 fret Lite Ash Stratocaster and neither has issues: because Fender put the pickups where they need to go.
