What was your first Duncan?

Securb

I am getting buzzed and nostalgic. I got into Seymour Duncan pickups late in the game. I put a Dimebucker/Jazz combo in my Iceman and never looked back. To be honest the Dimebucker was the first aftermarket pickup I had installed myself into a guitar. I bought a B.C. Rich with a L500XL already installed back in the 80's. Now I have 4 guitars with Duncs - Iceman, Telecaster, Stratocaster and Les Paul. They are all different and all sound beautiful thanks to the man with the plan on the left coast.

So tell me what was your first SD? Bonus for pics.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

First single was a APS-2 and first humbucker was a PGB. In both cases I found out I don't care for Alnico II magnets.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

JB and Hot Rails in my Jackson SL3.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

My first Duncan was installed in 2004 which was a Custom Shop Floor Black & Red SH6 Distortion Bridge in my long gone ESP LTD MH1000. The Distortion was the best part of an otherwise plastic like, inspiration deflating, abalone laden atrocity, aka the LTD Deluxe series. I don't miss that guitar at all but it was the start of a love affair with Duncan pickups.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

Back in the day I had AFD running almost nonstop, so the LP copy got A2pros of course.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

Pearly Gates neck and Custom Custom Bridge.

But number two…..a Distortion. Jackpot!

Re: What was your first Duncan?

I put this one together years and years ago with a JB in the bridge and Pearly Gates Bridge in the neck. I used a 5-way superswitch and was never happy with how it sounded. A few years ago I redid the wiring to a Tele 4-way setup and now it flat out kills!

Re: What was your first Duncan?

This guy here, an SH-6 Distortion bridge. I just took it out of a Les Paul and put it into my Strat, and I can officially say that I love it no matter what I put it in. Gonna buy another pretty soon here.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

A set of Antiquity Texas Hots, hand autographed by the man himself. Still installed in my 1966 Strat.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

I was going to say the Mayhem set I put in my Ibanez, but then I remembered that way back when, I put a Quarter Pound P-Bass pickup in my (ahem) Johnson, bass that is.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

The Screamin' Demon and Jazz which were the stock pickups in my Jackson. Tried a bunch of others (wanting more output), but tone wise these are just the perfect match for that guitar. Now I just add a boost in front of the amp.
First aftermarket purchase was the JB.
