What was your first Duncan?

Re: What was your first Duncan?

First self installed Duncans were JB/Jazz in my czech Epi LP Standard. First ever was the pre-installed Rickenbacker set in my Shine 4003 copy.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

First exposure was with a 83 Charvel back in about 85. It was a Custom and a 59n.

My first exposure to my favorite Duncans, Surfers, came from other peoples guitars with them. It was unbelievable how they transformed ordinary Strats into really good Strats.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

I got what is called now the Hot Rod set. I had bought a Epiphone les paul and wanted to get rid of the humbuckers in it. I had not really played much SD's before and after that I was sold. I have 15 guitars now loaded with different pickups I love the tone they have!!!

Re: What was your first Duncan?

Back in 91 I had a Quarter Pounder and STKJ2 installed in an old plywood bass I had. Loved 'em, still have 'em, but not the bass. Since then I have been a fan of Duncan pups for guitar and bass. Everything I have has SD's in it, or will have by the time Christmas rolls around. :cool2:

Re: What was your first Duncan?

JB, fall of 1998 in a '96 Epiphone Les Paul. Shortly after, a A2P in the neck.

I've since changed it to Custom/59 with Jimmy Page wiring, same pickup colors.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

My first 3 Warmoth builds included Zephyrs. Zephyr single coils and humbuckers for my first 2 strats and the Zephyr tele set for my first Warmoth tele. Since then it's just been SDs (everything from SSL-1s to Custom Shop models). The Zephs produce an incredible clear/clean tone best described as "HD" (in TV terms). Virtually all my Warmoths and upgrades contain SD pups and SD has not disappointed.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

First was the Custom 5 I put in a Les Paul Double cutaway. Absolutely loved it. Maybe a month later I bought a regular Custom and put in my SG. Pretty much sealed the deal....most of my guitars have Duncan's in them now; actually, all my regular players do.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

My first one was only last year a 2nd hane 59 neck off ebay, then I wanted the set so got the 59 bridge.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

It was an OEM SSL-1 in the middle position of some '80's Kramer. I don't know if the OEM humbuckers were Duncans too, but maybe so. I was given the guitar by a local repair man some time in the '90's. It was pretty much good for parts only. I parted it out, and the only thing I kept for my own use was the SSL-1. I had it in and out of several Strats over the years. I finally sold it some time last year, just because it was sitting unused, and it was really raggedy.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

my first Duncan purchase I bought two at a time, now this was before I knew ANYTHING about guitar, let alone pickups, I put a JB in the bridge and a dimebucker in the neck of a Schecter omen 6. I had no idea there was a difference in bridge and neck buckers I just knew my favorite players used those!

Re: What was your first Duncan?

JB/Jazz set in a PRS SE. Great pickups. Sold my guitar to a buddy, he still has the set in it.

Re: What was your first Duncan?

I ordered 3 in one package, a 59 neck, a QP for Strat and a little demon.
