Yeah, like you say, the tremolo is great but the pickups are not really "hot"
The pickups are cools for effects, but the can be bether than that, but i think this guitar may do the job with better pickups
What pickups would you put on it ???

After playing with my friend's, I'd go with a Custom for the bridge, APS in the mid, and APH at the neck. This set up would give decent rstrat tones in pos. 2, 3,and 4 (using coil splitting) while having lots of beef at the bridge and a thick, smooth humbucker sound at the neck.

I like that series of Ibanez guitar. I have always liked the thinness of the body, and the neck has a good feel as well. I dont know about you but I dont like the big thick bulky feel of some electric guitars. If your looking for a Metallica sound I think i'd consider a Duncan Distortion bridge pickup (sh-6) if I were you.

I dunno about the neck, that didn't make a while I play guitar, so i don't try alot of guitars, but i love the ibanez, i also love the strat neck
I'm gonna get a really cool strat (with tb-6 dist.-Hot stack-hotrails) in one month so i'm really exited about this, but i also wanted to give my ibanez more punch

I think I have seen your strat, is it blue with a maple fretboard? Sacha has a killer axe my friend, you should be proud.

Bones, your totally right, i will got sacha's strat, and i'm very proud if it, that's the greatest strat i see at the lowest price !!! And Sacha is really cool with me, so, it's the best deal i willl ever make !

I like Ibanez guitars. I hate Ibanez electronics. My first guitar was a crappy 200 buck Ibanez and it holds tune better than my 2003 MIM Telecaster. My tele always needs neck adjustments to eliminate some buzz. My Ibanez never has that problem.
I have a Distortion in my ibanez. If you're going for metallica, I'd say get a custom. You'll still need the cleans in songs like "Fade to Black" that, from my experience, the Distortion will fall a little short of.

i bought an ibanez rg and i put a DD in the bridge cause ibanez pups do suck. this is a very good axe to play metallica. sure not the best in the world but good cause with it you can have a "soloist" guitar with a very fast run neck and the DD offerts you the "old heavy metal sound"

if your delaer has the Prestige S-series, give it an audition.
i've avoided getting the ZR equipped S model due to the weight the trem contributes to the guitar's whole. the ZR is a splendid unit, it just adds too much weight to the body. i'm gonna go with the SA series instead- especially when i don't need a locking vibrato
