What's a CAE amp sound like by itself.

What do Bradshaw's Custom Audio amps sound like? I get the idea that the people who use them are mostly the types who need a platform for a bunch of effects. Since they probably have a Bradshaw switching system, they're naturally the type to have a lot of stompboxes and/or rack effects. So, I kind of assume it's main feature is "takes pedals well". But what does it sound like underneath the effects? Is it Dual Showman Reverb-ish, just clean brute power?

Re: What's a CAE amp sound like by itself.

There's a local shop called Tone Merchants that's a high-end boutique dealer that has a few in stock. They sound amazing... the clean tones are big, bold, lush, complex, and chimey. Heaven with a good reverb. Like the biggest fattest Fender you've ever heard. The dirty tones remind me a lot of Soldano's but they're more defined with more even-order harmonics in the sound. Fat, chunky, and ballsy with sustain for days. First time I plugged one in (OD100 model) with a Germino 4x12 I'll never forget. The amount of fat drive and tone that thing put out was staggering.

If I was forced to ditch my Bogner and get something else, that would be it. Forum bro samhill has one and he gets killer tones out of it, you might ask him how he likes it.

I'm not interested in buying one. I was just watching the Police Live DVD today and wondered what that amp was all about. I assume he's using the clean channel; his cruch sound is all Lovepedal Eternity and is solo tones come from about a half-dozen other booteek stompboxes.

Andy Summers' tones tend to sound very similar to each other no matter what amp he's using, in my observations.

There's also a few clips of a player named Al Estrada on youtube demoing the CAA od100.

Depends which one, but I place their tone well within the territory of a Soldano SLO 100.

But sounds way better than a SLO at low volumes. You can play a CAE at low levels and it will sound good.

The CAE amps are quite versitile but as a general rule tend to have a big Fender type tone in more ways than one...BTW...Andy is known to use all the sounds his CAE amps offer...
