What's a guitar like a Music Man Axis but HSS and wider nut?

Something Cool
I would love to replace my Floyd guitar (a Kramer Focus) with a Music Man Axis. However, from previous experience I already know that I can't deal with the 1-5/8th nut. And I would prefer HSS over HH. Finally, I want a Floyd that's not set up for dive-only by default (WTF, anyway)?

What's out there as an alternative? I'd like pretty maple top with binding and a figured maple neck. Floating Floyd. HSS.

I could Warmoth something together but then I'm screwed if I get bored of it.

What is it you like about the Axis other than the Floyd?

Maybe a Charvel SoCal with a HSS pick guard? I think they have swimming pool routs. If so, you could swap the pick guard and go HSS.

In that category, I really like the G&L Legacy Deluxe and Invader. Keep an eye out for Tom Anderson, Grosh, US Schecter, and Suhr on the used market. Some of those are the best superstrats ever, and people let them go cheap when times are tough.

This, big props for G&L Invader.
