what's fender smoking?

I liked the old amdlx FMT strat and tele... they looked like custom pieces, but why is fender doing THIS?

I think a black guard would look really nice on the hss strat they showed. But the Carved top tele......dat Tele man....dat Tele.....

wow i really like. Taking a shot of revenge against suhr and tom anderson, or at least making a statement in the 'strats with awesome tops' category.

Don't like the micro-tilt though, or the almost 3000 dollar price tag! Could get an actual nice american gibby for that and have antiquities put in if I wanted maple top and classy......

man that's a good looking guitar... Suhr has been doing it for years, seems to work great for him. Gorgeous top, compound radius neck... what's the complaint here?

I actually really like the Select Tele and Select Strat, not so much the carved ones, but in general, I think they look gorgeus.

They're smoking something awesome. I'm glad to see a guitar from Fender that's not a $12,000 reissue with crappy tuners and a warn out neck, for that "vintage look".

I don't mind the "select" series but one thing bug me about one of their Teles. REALLY? WHITE pick guard on a FLAME MAPLE TOP? Should've gone with clear, pearl, black or tortoise-shell IMO.

I'm kinda interested. Always like the the Suhr/Tom Anderson style flame top fender inspired stuff, and it's nice to see Fender actually picking up on the fact there's a market for such things.
Now are they worth the big bucks is a different matter but if I was in the market for a guitar with that sort of price tag I'd at least check em out. They do look kinda tasty.

Going for the Suhr/Anderson market - that's exactly what I was thinking. Good move IMO.
