Re: what's in your strat?!

Zion (swampash maple board)= 3 Joe Barden strats with spin a split on all 3- Unbelievable diverstity from classic to more modern

Nitefly= JB bridge, cruiser middle, cool rails neck with series and spin a split options- Even more versital than the Zion- But I've never heard another strat out Zion the Zion:)

Re: what's in your strat?!

I'm using Levinson VS-1's, originating from a Swiss-made Blade R2. They're very low-output, very mellow. In the Blade, they're acompanied by a VSC (Variable Spectrum Control), which is basically a little preamp with an active EQ that you can engage to boost the output and change the overall tonal character of the guitar, with three settings (off, semi-active and active), the middle one being a blend of the active and passive signal that's still pretty mellow, and the latter one being pretty hot. In my Squier, I don't have the VSC however. I like the pickups nonetheless, they sound very good for what I do with that guitar (mostly clean stuff and blues).

Re: what's in your strat?!

Been using the same set of Fralins in the same guitar since 1985...Lindy rewound a set of '57 RI pickups for me after I changed the magnet stagger a little bit...this was back when you had to order them through Angela Instruments...a little more beef, more like early 60's Strat pickups. I've tried a bunch of other stuff in that guitar, but these always go back.

Well, I'm no closer to a decission on what to put in my strat....so I figure, I'll try this another way.

Sound off with what pickups are in your strat (or strats)...and why kind of music do you play...

after years of searching and trying Duncans, Dimarzios, Lawrence, Carvin, Fender, my search eneded the moment a set of Lollars went in. Specials in the bridge and neck and a vintage wind in the middle. Coupled with a deaf-eddie chromcaster, the tones are varied, beautiful and inspiring.

I'm and old blues fart, but play pretty much everything. The Lollars are far and away the best sounding pickups I've used in this guitar. A prefect match.

Re: what's in your strat?!

Antiquity Custom Bridge and Texas Hots for the middle and neck. I play blues/classic rock type music for the most part.

Re: what's in your strat?!

Stock malmsteen sig. start: Dimarzio YJM in the neck and middle. Dimarzio HS3 in the bridge

Re: what's in your strat?!

I'll just mention a strat that I made and sold because it turned out to be real nice combonation. This one was a mohogony body and rosewood board strat with an bridge HB. Pearly Gates in the bridge position, and Duncan custom flats in the neck and middle.

On my homemade superstrat with a maple cap, I use Bill Lawrence L280's and a L460 with great results. I love this guitar, and it's no-noise, so it's the one that gets played the most.

On a LPB 63 replica, I use actual Fender 63 strat pickups. I find that the original strat pickup or copies of the originals work fine on a strat for most situations, if you put a tone control on the bridge pickup.

On the next project I'm seriously considering Vintage rails in the neck and middle, with either a Cool Rails, or a DMZ Protrack in the bridge position, because I like the looks of rail pickups on a strat.

Re: what's in your strat?!

My Strat (which is a 62 replica I've put together myself) now has a 59b and a PGn. I will probably change the PGn to a 59n. The PG is a great sounding pickup but does not blend well, I like to have matched pickups.

Re: what's in your strat?!

MIM Strat: Pearly Gates/Texas Special/Texas Special. All three will be replaced in the new year, not sure with what yet.

MIA Strat: 3 Classic Stacks. Great vintage tone, no changes in the foreseeable future.

Re: what's in your strat?!

JBJr. and 2 pos no-name singles. Soon to be classic stack plus in neck/mid!

Re: what's in your strat?!

My squier stagemaster, which is virtually a strat with reverse headstock, I have a JB/Jazz combo. 1 volume, 1 tone and a 3way. I play blues/rock. Great guitar for a squier, I think they only made them for a year then started making stagemasters that look like ibanezes
