Re: Whats more versatile a JB or Dimarzio DP100?
I think they are both very versatile pickups. My experience, in all fairness, with the JB is very limited and the tones I've heard on YouTube and various recordings is in sharp contrast to my personal experiences, so disregard my opinion as such.
I mean the roster of Super D players aren't just rock and metal guys... you have Jerry Garcia and Al DiMeola as famous users too. Through a Fender Twin, for example, the Super D is very pretty and balanced with just a bit of lower-mid bump. Both pickups were made to replace stock Les Paul pickups and were made to overdrive amps in the early 70's. Plus, if legend has it, the JB is named after a certain Jeff Beck, who is certainly anything but a one trick pony.
