What's the best CLEAN single coil?

I was going to go

Jazz - Neck

Lil 59 - Middle

Distortion - Bridge

But then thought, what a waste of a humbucker space. My best clean sounds right now are from my other guitar, and it's a single coil EMG I think an SA and it sounds awesome. So F it. I really want a 59.

NECK: 59 HUMBUCKER

MIDDLE: HELP ME DECIDE ON A SINGLE COIL

BRIDGE: DISTORTION HUMBUCKER

I use a classic stack in my strat and I think it is really clean without hum. I am sure there is something clearer than the Classic stack though.

Whatever you decide, thats gonna be a nice sounding axe.

I would think that an SSL-2, with a simple 5-way wiring mod, that would split the 59 in the #2 position, and the Distortion in the #4 position, would give you a nice selection of tones.

Or use something like a Quarter Pound or SSL-6, (both tapped), with an additional switch, for even more versatility.

The problem is, that you've got a quite high output bridge bucker and a paf style low output one in the neck...
So... the best clean sounding Single Coil would probably be the Antiquity Surfer (for a real bright clean sound) or Antiquity Texas Hot (if you like a more warm tone), or from the "normal"-line, the ssl-1 (again bright) or the APS-1 (warm sound). The only problem is that they might be a bit overpowered when combined with the Distortion...

try a five-two middle SC. awesome clean tone, and a nice constrast between either humbucking tone..

I'd go for the SSL1 if I wanted an actual single coil. It is the quintessential scooped strat pup sound. I personally prefer the APS' though.
